Getting car taken to secure compound and parked at Gatwick. Recommendations please..
Now I have my new car, I have enough space for my luggage, which means I am driving to Gatwick.
I am looking for a car pickup service from the Hilton Hotel. I have used a service before where you arrive at the airport ring a number, your car is collected and taken to a secure compound, on your return you ring a number and the car is waiting. Please recommend the best and most trusted service. Dammed if I can remember who I used before. |

There was one outfit at Gatwick on BBC Watchdog or similar program a few years ago - there idea of secure parking was to leave the cars on the road in an industrial estate!
There is a car park attached to the Hilton I would prefer to use. Wouldn't trust my car to anyone else to drive away and park at some unkown 'secure' parking lot.

The car park is right next door to the Hilton the entrance is just past the hotel on the left. It is manned 24hrs a day.
You can book online or by phone: Euro Car Parks used them in March - car stays there the whole time and our was parked right next door to their office. |

We're booked in to the Hilton the night before our holiday this year and were intending to stay in one of the long-stay car parks as usual, but on a whim went onto the BAA website to see what they were charging for parking. To my amazement we were offered 14 nights in the short stay car park (the one between the hotel and the terminal) for just a tiny bit more than the long stay price - I think it was about £80! Normally to stay in that car park would be over £250 for a holiday of that length. And of course the major benefit is that our car will be just two minutes walk from the terminal when we fly back home, with no waiting around or buses to catch.
Now this may well have only been a special offer for that week that we were lucky to catch, but it's certainly worth giving it a try to see if you can get the same or similar.

we stay at the sofitel and use the company that does there car parking outside the hotel, its normally in with the hotel price for hotel plus parking, and we just leave it there and its waiting there on the day we return, no hassle.

Ostensibly it is the short-stay car park in that they charge people by the hour who are just dropping others off / picking them up, but it seems that they are also selling cheap pay-in-advance rates now just like the long-stay car parks. My guess is because their car park is usually less than half full and they are looking for a way to fill it.

BCP are now Airparks I believe. Last time we used them we had a pretty bad time, on arrival there were queus out on to the road waiting to give the keys in (that was about 7am) and then we sat on the bus waiting to go and when they decided they didn't want to go quite yet they just pushed the departure time on the clock. Ok everywhere has a bad day, but coming back we waited an absolute age for our bus, again it happens but with so many others to book with we decided that was the last time with them. I know not a pickup service but personally we like Summer Special
