Pay for Disney Trip with gift cards and get 6% cashback from Fat Wallet

http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-...?newest=1#last

Saw this, this morning on fatwallet.com. Disneystore.com is a double point store today. In other words if you go through the fatwallet.com link and shop online you will receive 6% cashback. Of course you must be a member of fatwallet, which is free. I purchased disney gift cards, which I will receive 6% cashback for and then will pay for my trip with them. Details say they are good at the resorts and I also checked my reservation online and it says I can pay with the gift card. Please be very careful NOT to purchase the disneystore.com ONLINE gift card. You need to purchase the one they mail to you with free shipping. Please read details carefully. The ONLINE gift card can only be used at disneystore.com and nowhere else. I only saved around $15 since my next trip is pretty low budget with free dining and all, but I sure could have used this on my June trip which cost a small fortune! I'm just sharing this info as I thought it was valuable. Please do not flame me if this does not work for you. Thanks!

Nice find! I'm a FW member, but hadn't checked the site today - thanks for the heads-up on this!

Does anyone know if you can pay for food with gift cards? Normally, I put a credit card on file and pay with everything via my room key. I'm assuming I can't pay that final bill with the gift cards since I secured it with my credit card.

We had our gift cards (there were quite a few) added to the room when we checked in. The balance was deducted after each charge. They also took a cc but made a note to use the gift card balance first.

Any limit?

Does anyone know if there's a limit to the cash back you can receive? I could spend a few thousand on gift cards. We've got 4 different groups going this Thanksgiving.
Thanks

is fat wallet like sunshine rewards? They allow you to get the % back on Disney gift card purchases? I belong to SR and they do not allow % back on Disney gift card purchases. I want to look into this but want to make sure I will in fact get the % back.

eta: okay...just checked out the FW site and saw that gift card purchases are eligible for cash back! Does anyone know how long the hold is for Disney purchases? Also, does anyone know approx how long it takes to get the gift cards from Disney?

Does Disney actually charge the CC as you go along if you put it on your KTTW card? Or do they just take the CC as back up (in case you try to skip out on the bill) but only actually charge you at check out? So at check out you could say you'd like to pay with GCs instead of the CC.

you can have the CM add your gift cards to your room account when you check in at your resort. Essentially, it will create a credit on your account and any charges you make to your room will go against that credit. If/when you go over the gift card amount, then your cc will be charged. I do this every trip as I get gift cards through Sunshine Rewards and from my Disney Visa; it's easier for me to take care of it at check in instead of having to remember to do it before we check out.

Don't forget, you get another 1% back when you charge it to a rewards credit card (like Disney Visa).

OK so how do I use these to pay for my trip? Do I pay with Credit then add to room when I get there and get a credit? Somehow this is not adding up for me...

I should have made that more clear...sorry! In the past I have used them to pay for my spending in Disney, which I added to my room account at check in. You can also use the gift cards to in advance of your arrival to pay for your package by calling Disney and giving them the gift card numbers. I believe you can also pay with gift cards online, but I have never done that before. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks so much for the head's up on this - we were able to buy $1,000 worth of gift cards and that $60 back will make a difference in back to school supply shopping!

Thanks!
