Does Anyone Know What Happens When..

they put note that it's a birthday week on your ADRS?

We're going to Disney about a week or so before my son's 3rd birthday.
When I made my ADRS I was asked if we're celebrating anything special and I mentioned not really - we're going before my sons birthday. She said it's OK and suggested I have it put on one of our ADRs. I said to mention his birthday on our Norway dinner ADR.

I then called back about a week later (some last minute changes of course) and was asked again about celebrations and mentioned I should have one on Norway. The CM offered to put that it was my sons birthday week on all the ADRs. He's only almost 3 and I thought it would be special and fun for him to have some little birthday celebrations at Disney - heck most of the time when people sing happy birthday he thinks it for him and starts trying to blow out candles.

Anyway - does anyone know what, if anything, is done if you have mention of a birthday week on your ADRs? I know we can purchase a small cake at any restaurant when we arrive - but we're on DXDP and will have plenty of desserts. I called the cake hotline and they were able to add a birthday cupcake to our Norway reservation.

I'm just curious if I should ask or remind them when we go to our ADRs about the birthday week. Will anything fun happen for my son if we don't order a special cake? WHat about character meals? I specificallyy wanted to mention his birthday at Norway hoping he could get some kisses from the Princesses.

He will get a birthday pin and just have him wear that. The princesses will give him kisses, I am sure. I am going for my birthday, and I think it depends on the place. Some places decorate the table, give cupcakes & sing, some just recognize it by saying "Happy Birthday", some even give signed placemats from characters from what I have read on this board. I think if he wears his pin, he will definitely get lots of Happy Birthdays! Have a magical time!

We were at Disney World June 20-27 on the DDP and I had the same question asked when making my ADR's. My son was turning 8 on July 6th so I mentioned that we would be celebrating his birthday. At four of our seven sit down meals our table was decorated with streamers and confetti. He did receive a special ice cream sundae at the Sci Fi Drive In and a card. My favorite celebration was at 1900 Park Faire breakfast. He received a laminated placemat with all of the characters from that location. (They even gave one to his older sister.) They were going around the restaurant to announce who was celebrating birthdays, two or three kids at a time, and would have the entire place sing to them. We mentioned to our server that he didn't want to have everyone sing to him. He knew it really wasn't his birthday. Well the hostess who was leading the singing came over to our table when she was done with the room and sang a beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday to him along with giving him a huge cupcake! I wish we had the camcorder on - I'll never forget how special that was!

He also received an autographed 5 x 7 of Mickey with a special photo pass card attached to it in our room when we arrived. The card had a code for a 20% discount off of items bought on the photopass website. And everytime he'd wear his birthday button, the CM would wish him a Happy Birthday. So it made the trip a little more magical for him.

I am so hoping that will happen to my little great niece in a few days. We are celebrating her birthday and I did mention it on my ressies, so, with many prayers it will be extra special for her. This trip comes at a perfect time for her as she just found out that her parents would be splitting....not what she wants nor her daddy..so if anyone has time for a few prayers, that would be great. Enjoy your birthday celebration!!!!

Thanks for the input. NOw I'm getting more excited for my son - especially since we have a breakfast ADR at 1900 Park Fare! I plan to call WDW dine a few days before we leave to make sure the ADRs mention his birthday and I will get him a pin when we arrive.

I have a fishing trip planned one morning. It was a Father's Day gift to DH - I figured what better place for him to take our son on his first fishing trip then Disney. Since it was a Father's Day gift I didn't mention the birthdya when I made the reservation. Maybe I will call and tell them. Last year DH got me an Illuminations cruise for our anniversay and they had balloons and a banner on the boat. I'm not sure if they can do the same for fishing, but there's not harm in asking...

noahdove....here's a large sprinkle of Pixie dust for your niece to have the most magical time ever! Aunts are very special people and I know your love and understanding will be a big help for your niece through this difficult time. thing happen this past trip. When I made my ADRs the CM asked if we were celebrating anything like a birthday. I mentioned that no my daughters birthday was a week after we got back. She put that in the system as a birthday celebration.

What happens varies between restaurants. For example, our CM at CRT had my daughter and two other girls celebrating birthdays. He brought a birthday card for all the princesses to sign, a chocolate cupcake (she was so hopped on sugar from the cupcake and sundae that she couldn't take a nap) and he sang to them. I didn't see any other CMs singing so that may have been his thing. At CM on the other hand they just brought out a cupcake before the napkin parade. There was also a card from Mickey left in our room one day.

It will differ. It appears that CMs have some discretion what they do. There will be little surprises at different points that should thrill your child.

Maybe something, Maybe nothing.I wouldn't expect anything and if pixie dust happens ...wonderful. I would definitely not get your childs hopes up( not that you were or anything, but I have seen posters here get their child all excited and then nothing happened but disappointment) What the cms and restaurants do , depends on time, how busy it is , and if they FEEL like doing anything.

Exactly. For our 8th anniversary we received Happy Anniversary buttons upon arriving at dinner and received a card and special dessert. We went back for our 10th (made mention on room & dining ressies) but received nothing at the resort or at dinner. I would not mention it to the child as they may be disappointed if nothing happens.

I had a ? like this as well. My DD turned 6 end of July, but we're going a month later - wondered if it was silly to add this to the ressies. Also, DH and I had 15th Anniv. this summer, and will have 20th Anniv. of "dating" this fall-same thing, didn't know if people add these if they're not there on the date or not.

I agree. We were there last Sept for my mom's 75th birthday. When I made ADRs, the CM said she would put it on all the ADRs. I told her that wasn't necessary, as I had already planned a celebration for her real birthday. I had ordered a cake for our CP breakfast Sept 9th (which is her real birthday). The CM said it was no problem and she'd be glad to out her birthday on all the ADRs and we'd see what happened. At Chef Mickey's she got a cupcake and a signed place mat, at Boma she got a special dessert, at Narcoosee she got a personalized menu, and at Crystal Palace she had confetti on the table, but they had lost the cake I had specially ordered and paid for. They did bring her a cupcake though. We were on the DxDDP and had three TS almost every day. None of the other restaurants said a word (and she did wear her birthday button all week). The resort also did nothing, which was fine as we had already planned to do our own celebrating. The only thing I was really unhappy about was CP not having a record of the cake I had paid for.

On our last trip to the World, my daughter and I celebrated my birthday. We had a note added to all our ADR's and everytime we ate we had either the table decorated or received a cupcake. I was given a birthday pin to wear and was serenaded by the strolling group in Frontierland, chosen to be in Woody's roundup, chosen to be on stage during the Hoop-de-Doo, and given many well wishes during the week(and I was turning 42!!!) My daughter had a blast telling eveyone it was my birthday(she also thought it was funny to tell my age!) Hope your little one has the same luck I did! Have a great trip!

Thanks for all the input. My son will be turning 3 and he is just getting into and understadning bithdays. We only talk about visiting Mickey at Mickey's Park and since I have alot or charater meal ADRS we tralk about eating with Goofy and Pooh and such like we did last year. The birthday focus is actually on the birthday party we will have for him at home. I need to get alot of things done for it (decorations bought and such) before we leave for Disney as we won't have much time when we get back so we're picking out themes and such.

As far as the birthday mention on ADRS I'm not mentioning to my son and am planning to see what happens. Just being with the characters and such will be fun for him.

We are on DXDP and have a good amount of TS meals - mostly family style or buffet as that will be best for DS (who is not on plan)

We have breakfast ADRS at Cape May, Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare and Hollywood & Vine.

Lunch / Dinner ADRS at: Cape May Clam Bake (day we arrive it's near our hotel BWV), Kona, Germany, Norway, Mickeys Backyard BBQ.

We're staying at a DVC so I don't expect anything from the resort. I rented points from a friend and didn't even think to ask her to mention his birthday when making the reservation.

I agree I don't want to disappoint him and I don't think he will be. As many of you have said, it will add some nice pixie dust to the trip if he gets special birthday treatment at one or two of our meals -if not, it still will be a magical time. Let's face it - it's free dining and celebrations year - so there are probably many people celebrating events at meals and there's only so many cakes and singing and confetti a CM can do! And to tell you the truth, I think me DH and my sister are mor excited about having a birthday celebration for him then he is. He's looking forward to going in a plane, running around the toddler parks and the tea cups!
