Butterfly farms???

Did I read somewhere that the butterfly farm in St. Thomas or St. Maarten is walking distance from the port? If so which one, and how far of a walk!

Thanks!

St. Thomas has the butterfly farm within easy walking distance from the ship. The walk is just across the parking lot.

As the PP said....

It is literally across a parking lot. When you pull into port...look out your window or over the railings --- there will be a restaurant RIGHT outside of the fence and RIGHT behind that will be another small building with a big, covered fenced in area --- THAT is the Butterfly Farm.

We went in the afternoon and the guide spent 45 minutes with us - one on one time....GREAT staff there. I would totally recommend doing it yourself -- we shared the place with just one other family - it was terrific and MUCH cheaper then doing the Disney excursion. Walk time is around 1 minute.

You cannot walk to the butterfly farm in St. Maarten. It is much too far away.

Thanks,
we went and LOVED it! Kids spent an hour and a half there and like the PP said, it was a one on one "tour" and they were great with the kids. I think we paid $12 a person but they gave us a $5 coupon per person to use in their shop...we pooled our coupons and bought something worth $20 and didn't have to pay anything (there is no limit on how much you spend to use the coupon). To get the $5 coupon you had to be from a cruise ship, so we had to show our KTTW (although it was a little obvious! )

Take some $$ to tip your "guide" as well. They are very nice and we learned a lot. We drove past the one on St. Marteen and it didn't look as nice.

Have fun!
