Home again

We are home again from our summer trip. We arrived home a couple of hours ago after spending last night at Cambridge after taking DS home. Ive unpacked, got the washing on and so thought it was time to log on here to catch up.

My trip report last summer was called Doing Disney Different with Darling Disney Daughter (DDD with DDD) and this one could have the same title as it was a very different type of trip.

We spent a lot more time at the hotel this time- relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere there. We deliberatly didnt rush to do a lot of things and so found it a lot more relaxing - yes it can be relaxing

On the whole it was a lovely trip and well worth the upgrade to Admirals Floor

Cons: (mainly niggles really )

The heat - Im not a lover of intense heat and it was HOT

The crowds - surprisingly the weekend was quieter than the week days. There werent as many British about but a lot of large groups from some countries

The usual queue jumpers and people who seem unable to organise themselves in queues - large groups or even families who want to ride together and get to the front of the queue and realise they are not all in the same line or together and so hold everyone else up

Finding a dead wasp in my food in Annettes - the only bad thing I have to say about the food for the whole trip

The swimming pools at the hotels not opening now til 3pm (we actually had to queue to get in one afternoon)

Pros:

Newport Bay hotel - first time we've stayed here and loved it. The room was lovely and spacious and had really good air con

The upgrade to Admirals floor - well worth it and got our moneys worth in drinks alone (never mind the cakes and cooked breakfast)

The food We had some fantastic meals which all seemed reasonable price wise for what we got

The CMs - they all seemed really friendly and cheerful

The price we had to pay to add DS onto our booking at the last minute - 5,50E for 5 nights (and that included breakfast and upgrade)

Lovely to see you back, it certainly was hot wasn't it on the Friday? Sorry to hear about the dead wasp in your meal at Annettes, we dined here twice and thankfully had nothing like that at all.
We loved Newport Bay last year but Sequoia Lodge just edges out for us at the moment, I agree about the CM's, very cheerful and friendly and willing to help.

Glad to hear you had a great time. Pity about the heat. I go soon & I hope it has cooled down a bit by then. Looking forward to reading all about it.

Yes finding the wasp was a bit . I had chilli hotdog and it was in the chilli.

When I pointed it out they asked if i wanted another one (meal not wasp I assumed ) so said yes. It was only when I got it I decided I should have asked for something else and so didnt really enjoy it. They didnt charge for my meal in the end but we had to ask them and they had to go and discuss it with the manager. Apart from that it was a nice meal at Annettes - everyone else enjoyed their food.

I will do seperate food reports but for now heres where we ate and marks out of 10 for food, service etc

Fri - Annettes - as above

Sat - Restaurant des Stars - 9/10. Dropped 1 point as couldnt find a table for us after had asked us to follow them to a table. Food was lovely though and replenished quickly. Also lots of choice

Sun - Steakhouse Brunch - 10/10. Wonderful food, service, character interaction etc.

Mon - Walts - 91/2/10 - Fantastic food and service. Being picky here and dropped 1/2 point for having to ask for the bread

Tues- Blue Lagoon 10/10- Wonderful food, service, atmosphere.Everything.

Wed - Had a reservation for Agrabah but decided at last minute we didnt really fancy a full meal as it was so hot so just grabbed something from cowboy cookout instead.
