Nassau Sea Lion Encounter

Bit confused about a couple of things I've read in the description:

- Guests participating on the 2:30pm tour will return to the ship at approximately 6:45pm. Guests with a 5:45pm dinner seating may choose to dine at Beach Blanket Casual Dining on this night of the cruise.

- This excursion includes an approximate 30-minute boat transfer from the ship to Blue Lagoon Island and back again. There is one return trip back from the island.

Having read the first point, it sounds like there may be more than one tour offered, so if this is the case we would plan to go on the earliest option, to make sure we're back in plenty time for our early dinner seating. Am I wrong though, and is there just the one afternoon tour?
However, the second point implies there is only one boat back from the island, so does this mean you're stuck there until that last boat goes back anyway?

I'd really like to do this, but also don't want to miss our dinner seating, especially if it turns out to be the Animator's Palette night or something - this might be our only chance to cruise!!

Can anyone help me out by confirming the timescales / any different time options for this excursion?

I have booked the Sea Lion Encounter with a 9;30am start time and 1:30pm end time.

Does anyone know if I am on the DCL excursion, can I come back later than the scheduled time?

Steph, does that have a 1.30pm pickup time to take you back to the ship then at the moment?

Anyone know where I can get more specific info on this? Can I call DCL ahead of our booking time?

Yes you can call DCL. Have you checked out the reviews for this excursion in the DIS DCL FAQ linked in my signature? It might have some information to help you.

Thanks, I was only able to find limited information via your link, but still helpful nonetheless!

I called DCL and they advised the tours normally go at around 9.30, 12.45 and sometimes 2.30, but times can change when you actually come to book.

I queried the 'one return trip' thing and apparently what it means is there is just the one return journey per tour, unlike some places like the Atlantis where a return runs every half hour, for this one you have to get on your group's allocated return trip. The timescale for the tour is 4 - 4 and a half hours long, I checked this too as it didn't have the details online.

Thought I'd post my findings in case it helps someone else

this is very helpful, thanks! I am looking forward to your review of this excursion--I am taking my first Disney Cruise in Feb 2010 and am seriously thinking about this experience, but would like more "first hand" reports of what it's really like. Congrats on your impending wedding!

Also curious about this and have a couple of more ?s. We are torn between the dolphin and sea lion encounter. Has anyone tried both? Also, we will be going in April and just curious about the water temp at that time.
