"Quest for Better Health" -Lisa's Journal (comments welcome)
I've been trying to lose weight since my youngest was born almost 12 years ago. I'd lose a little but gain that back and then some. Right about now I need to lose at least 120lbs.
I've also been talking about doing the Disney 1/2 Marathon for 3 years now. I even signed up 3 years ago and never trained at all. Needless to say my follow through stinks. In May I was diagnosed as diabetic. It was not a big suprise, as I had gestational diabetes during both my pregnancies. You would think that would have been a warning but I'm the world's greatest procrastinator. I've decided to not focus on the past though, I can't control what I did, only what I'm doing right now. So since May I've lost 18 lbs by eating better. I just started walking. I am going to be at the starting line for the Disney 1/2! I know I have alot of work to do, my pace is really slow about 21 min/mile. I'm hoping with weight loss, miles walked, and a little luck I won't be swept. |

A little about myself. I'm 44, have a great husband, and 2 sons 11 and 13. I love to quilt and do crafts. Work in the medical billing field. Love to travel.
I stayed on track with my eating plan yesterday. I'm trying to eat less carbs and not eat anything that spikes my blood sugar. I'm very insulin resistant and have a lot of low's. I did not walk though. Have a nasty cold from my darling husband and feel awful. Should have walked anyway, probably wouldn't have felt any worse. Today's plan is to at least start the walk and see what happens. Hope everyone has a great day |

Well I managed to get on the treadmill and walked for 30 minutes. I have a few more days at 30 minutes and then I will increase the time a little.
I did ok with food for the most part, my husband brought home clam cakes from the local church bazaar and I had a few of those. Went to bed early last night so hopefully I'll feel better today. |

You can do this. It will be the little steps that bring success, just keep at it.
