SW and airline checkin

We usually fly SW, so I am aware that SW is not a "participating airline" with ME.
In June, we were told SW was "piloting the idea of airline checkin". So we were able to check our bags and check into our airline at Pop Century the morning of check out.

How long are they piloting this? I have friends going in September, flying SW. Should they expect to be able to do airline checkin at their resort?

At this point, the POP pilot is the extent of SWA's participation in the Resort Airline Check-in service, which actually is separate from DME. There has been no indication as to if or when SWA may expand their participation in DME; only rumors that run the gamut of possibilities and are thus worthless.

Stand by…

Thumbs up POP Century - Luggage Checkin w/SWA

As of today - it is still happening and in a test phase...

I understand some days it may not be working due to technical issues, but the majority of the test has been very positive.

There is no definitive date to expand at this point to the other Resorts - so I'm jealous that you are at POP and can use this service.

Enjoy and let us know how it works!

A SW rep is quoted on FT as saying the 60 day test went well. SW will be asking Disney for permission to extend the test to include additional resorts.

My guess is new resorts will be added with no advance notice. One DIS will post when they see a new sign at their resort.
