Grand Floridian/Contemorary??? - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hi!

I am going to be booking my 10 year anniversary trip this week - we're going in June 2010.

Ideally, I would like to do a split stay between the Contemporary Theme Park Tower view and Grand Floridian (maybe RPC if I can swing it).

But DH doesn't want to resort hop (especially because we're planning on doing 2 or 3 nights at Portofino before heading to WDW.

But my thought for the CR/GF split is to be at the CR over 4th of July in the tower with a MK view so we can sit on the balcony and watch the 4th of July Fireworks. I just don't think the view from a GF theme park view room would be as spectacular.

And, I want to do the split because the GF is where DH and I honeymooned, but we've never stayed at the CR and our DS really wants to....plus I think the view is fantastic.

So, I'd like some thoughts and maybe some suggestions for making resort hopping easier so that I can convince DH to go with the 3 hotels (PFB, CR and GF).

Congrats on 10 years! We have our 20th next year!

I agree the CR would afford killer views of the July 4th fireworks but GF RPC is my very favorite place to be in WDW so if it were me I would stay at GF the entire trip.

If you do the split (which I have always found very painless), perhaps you could offer to handle all the transfer/check-in stuff while DH and DS go off and do something together. It would be your "sacrifice" so you can stay at both resorts.

Or if you end up deciding GF RPC, maybe you could arrange a private dining experience on the 3rd floor balcony or Sago terrace and enjoy a private showing across the lagoon!

Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary. We have stayed at the GF RPC many times and have always had a marina/castle view standard room for the 3 of us. The fireworks are spectacular and we so love RPC. However I do think that the CR MKV would be a wonderful choice as well. Just imagine sitting on your balcony with an unobstructed view of MK and wishes.

We have also chartered the Grand 1 and watched wishes while dining and having dessert. That was such a wonderful evening for the 3 of us as well. No matter what you decide I am sure you will have a Magical anniversary. Happy planning.

The Contemporary Magic Kingdom View is reason enough to stay there, because it's simply amazing.

So I'm still torn and I've been playing around with a couple of ideas.

First - another question.
How does the Atrium Club compare to RPC? I can book at Atrium Club MKV at the CR...but is it as good as RPC?

Now I'd like some votes. Here are the few options I'm throwing around.

Option #1:
Grand Floridian Theme Park view with the Deluxe Dining Plan.

Option #2:
Contemporary Tower MKV with the DxDP.

Option #3:
GF RPC with the regular DDP.

Option #4:
GF RPC with no DP.

Option #5:
July 2, 3 and 4 at CR MKV - no DP.
PLUS
5 or 6 more nights at GF RPC with the regular DP.

Ahhhhh, my head is spinning. More help is wanted.

Option #5!!!

Best of both worlds! And ending your vacation at the GF where you honeymooned would be perfect. I say go for it!
