Would anyone be interested in reading the same book together and commenting on it (i.e. like book clubs do)? It wouldn't have to be right away. Maybe in a few weeks? We could set up a separate thread for our discussions.

Just an idea.

I'm willing to play....as long as it's not one of those vampire / romance novels.

Some suggestions that seem interesting...

The Pirate Latitudes - Michael Crichton
Await Your Reply - Dan Chaon
Shutter Island - Dennis Lehane
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larson

But I am open to any other suggestions as well....as long as the main character isnt a sparkly vampire.

So what are you trying to say? That you are prejudice against my boyfriend, Edward? Lol jealous you don't "dazzle" like he does? Hmmmmmm?

That pirate book looks cool. I just checked it out online. I'll check the others too.

A book club does sound fun. I have been wanting to read Pirate Latitudes so I would be on board with that!

Thanks for the heads up on that
I finished this last night - overall, very good! Ending rather abrubtly, mainly because they are still in the middle of the project. Hopefully they'll write a follow-up once they finish their 5-year plan.

I might be interested depending on what the book is. I'm not into "chick flick books" which always seems to be the book of choice whenever I'm invited to join a book club.

"The Help"

Kevin, heard you mention "The Help" on the podcast...I read this a few months back and LOVED IT!!! Learned so much about a time and place that was before MY time...interesting to hear about the path of women, both white and black, during the civil rights movement. I could relate in one way or another to ALL of the characters. I recommend this book to anyone!!

I was fascinated by this book.

I cant believe it's not a movie yet.

I spent part of the time I was reading the book casting the movie.

Aibelene - Oprah
Minny - Mo'Nique
Skeeter - Hillary Swank
Hilly - Sandra Bullock (but only after seeing The Blind Side)

I love the idea of all reading the same book and then discussing it together.

I second Kevin's suggestion of "Await Your Reply" that's in my book pile right now.

I've read Girl with the Dragon Tatoo. I liked half the story and found the other half a total bore. I bought the sequel but haven't been motivated to start reading yet.

I'm in depending on the book. Just read the summary for Await Your Reply and it sounds good.

I tried to read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and just couldn't get into it.

I'd be interested in all discussing the same book.
Just tell me the title.

Trouble is, I would want to listen to the book. I haven't listened to a book since I started listening to podcasts!

I'd be interested....some of the books Kevin mentioned are on my list of want-to-reads.

I just finished two books on my Kindle...The Apothecary's Daughter and Lady of Milkweed Manor. They are both by Julie Klassen and very well written. They are historical romance. I started with Apothecary's Daughter because it was free and I was new to the whole Kindle thing. I loved it so much I bought her first novel, Milkweed Manor. I would compare her style to Jane Austen.
On a down note...I also downloaded an really, really, really bad vampire/romance thing for free... Kiss Me Deadly. Not usually my cup of tea and I shouldn't have tried this one. The only good thing about it was that it was free...
