;)

Im new here. So glad to find this thread. I absolutely love reading and seeing what others are reading.

I just finished Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner, Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin, and now reading Home Repair by Liz Rosenberg.

The first two were definately light reads and fluff. Home Repair is a little deeper but as of right now still pretty light.

Enjoying this thread. Thank you all!!!!

So, how many of you got The Symbol today? I am getting behind on my reading because I am back to work, but I definitely plan on reading it soon!

It's not the pace of life than concerns me... it's the sudden stop at the end.

I have so many books lined up to read, it's crazy. BUT..."The Lost Symbol" is now at the top of the list. What I need to do is stop loading books onto the Kindle... yeah right - like that's going to happen

In a Sunburned Country

Pete's blogs keep reminding me of "In A Sunburned Country" by Bill Bryson.

It's a hilarous travel book about his adventures down under. He's an awful lot like Pete and spends a large part of the book talking about how everything in Australia is trying to kill you.
"Despite the fact that Australia harbors more things that can kill you in extremely nasty ways than anywhere else, including sharks, crocodiles, snakes, even riptides and deserts, Bill Bryson adores the place, and he takes his readers on a rollicking ride far beyond that beaten tourist path. Wherever he goes he finds Australians who are cheerful, extroverted, and unfailingly obliging, and these beaming products of land with clean, safe cities, cold beer, and constant sunshine fill the pages of this wonderful book. Australia is an immense and fortunate land, and it has found in Bill Bryson its perfect guide."

All of Bryson's books are great but I'm partial to this one and "A Walk in the Woods" about his adventures on the Appalachian Trail.

I finished The Lost Symbol this morning. I really enjoyed it!
I know I will be reading it again. I read somewhere to call the phone number mentioned in the book..so go ahead and do it when you get there.
There is also a website mentioned that I am going to check out too.
I have never read Angels and Demons so that is up next.
Happy reading!

hey everyone! thanks to you all, i picked up The Pillars of the Earth...and LOVED. IT. i finished it in about a week, reading mostly at nights, in between working, sleeping, and The Sims 3-ing, hahah. AMAZING characters, and i just loved how everyone's stories intertwined. Good stuff!

Next will probably be Sense & Sensibility. The only Austen i've read so far is Pride & Prejudice, so i'm hoping i'll like the rest of her work, as well.

like any good New Englander, i read this book...but i think i was too young to really "get" it (the fact that i barely remember it is a pretty good indication of that). i might have to dig that one out again.

I finished "Love Walked In" by Marisa de los Santos and "Whistling In The Dark" by Lesley Kagen - both were EXCELLENT!!!

Now I'm reading "Perfect Match", another book by Jodi Picoult. I'm hoping to have all of her books read by the end of the year.
I finished "Perfect Match" the other night - not as suspensful as other Picoult books. I was able to predict the big "surprise" long before it was revealed.

Just downlowded "Harvesting of the Heart" by Picoult on my Kindle last night.

Latest Oprah's Book Club selection has been announced: http://www.oprah.com/entity/oprahsbookclub. Looks good...I'll likely download it after I finish the book I am currently reading. I'm trying to "budget" my book buying by only downloading one book at a time!
