How do these TS celebrate birthdays?

I am going down to Disney with my daughter to celebrate her 9th birthday (Just the two of us) in September. We have a few ADRs and wanted to know how each place celebrates birthdays and if it's worth it to make note of her birthday at each...ya know, for the different experiences; or if there is one or two that are especially fun.

We will be dining at these places:

Whispering Canyon (dinner)
Teppan Edo (lunch)
Akershus (dinner)
Ohana (dinner)
Sci-Fi (lunch)
1900 Park Fare (dinner)

I can only comment on Teppan Edo and 1900 Park Fark - maybe someone else can help on the other places...

Teppan Edo: I got a paper chef's hat with "Happy Birthday" written in Japanese characters and signed by our wait staff and table chef. This hat got us "First Family" honors at the American Adventure later that day! We also got a slice of yummy ginger cake.

1900 Park Fare: I got a signed, laminated placemat from the characters, and I also got a birthday princess crown (which was meant for a smaller child...my DH kept wanting to get pictures and the darned crown kept popping off my head)...

Ohana gives you a birthday cupcake, same as 1900 Park Fare.. they're so big and good w/ mickey sprinkles on it, and one candle. The waitress and my DH sang happy bday to me and then i blew it out. At Ohana the singer asked for anyone celebrating to come up, so i did, and they sang.. it was nice.

I got tons of pixie dust for my bday, wear the bday button.. get it at Guest Relations window just outside the park. I passed the Edy's ice cream place in Epcot, leisurely stroll and they came running after me.. i was just past their building.. and they handed me a HUGE ice cream sundae for free and wished me happy bday. I also went to buy a bottle of water and they didnt charge me b/c it was my bday!

At Sci Fi, our waiter stood up on a chair and yelled to the whole restaurant, WE HAVE A BIRTHDAY IN THE THEATER, and then the entire restaurant sang Happy Birthday, and we got an ice cream sundae and a card.

Any of the restaurants MAY OR MAY NOT DO ANYTHING.There are no guarantees that they will do anything for you.Birthday acknowledgement may be anything from Nothing to warm wishes to a cupcake and singing.I have been there on birthdays and anniversaries and never got more than well wishes, and even when we celebrated my nieces 4th birthday , the restaurants did nothing special.SO I would say if it is real important to you than you can order a cake ( it costs extra though),Otherwise go prepared for anything or nothing .

Exactly! Great to see the pixie dust spread, but expect nothing. You will not be disappointed. ANd I would not share with your child what some people had happen on their bday - she can only be disappointed that way

Have a great birthday trip!

like the pp's said don't expect anything but you can get anything from a free dessert with the plate decorated with a "happy birthday" or even a free appetizer which le cellier has been noted to do at times by giving a free bowl of their cheddar cheese soup. it just all depends.

No worries. We're going for the food and not the birthday wishes. If nothing happens, we're more than okay with that. I just wasn't sure if it would be worth noting we're celebrating. It seems like there could be some fun stuff that's possible so we'll make mention. As far as the cake goes, it would seem a little much as there are only two of us and I don't eat cake...so one whole cake for a 9 year old would equal sugar overload. Hahaha.

Thanks for everybody's help. I'm looking forward to our vacation and all that comes along with it!

DD got the signed placemat and plastic crown at 1900 Park Fare.

At Whispering Canyon, our waiter had several people at his tables celebrating birthdays. He asked all the b-day people stand up and had all the diners in the restaurant sing happy birthday. Then he had us all do the Hokey Pokey.

Will you be there on her actual b-day? I would note it on that day and see what happens!

In May 2009, 1900 Park Fare brought DH a signed, laminated placemat and brought him out a mickey cupcake (which was a little redundant considering it's a buffet & has tons of dessert choices...needless to say he was already stuffed & we were headed to the MK for evening EMH so couldn't take the cupcake with us...but nice gesture.)

Everywhere else, since we were on the DDP, they brought out whatever dessert he ordered with a lit birthday candle...even the ice cream
