B.C.ers swealtering in the heat....

.... think of it like my hubby and I tease -- "We're training for Disney World around Labour Day!"

Seriously this heat is atrocious! My hubby checked the temperature on Sunday and it was hotter here than in Orlando!!!

How are you all coping with the heat? LOL I've sat my butt in front of a big fan at my parent's place since I am visiting them for a couple of days while my other half is working opposite hours to me so I don't wake him up mid day and I am missing my AC at home 20 minutes away

Enjoy the heat! The weather in Ontario has been horrible...summer is half over and we haven't even experienced it yet. I figure with all of the money I'm saving on A/C I can take an extra trip!

No kidding - enjoy that heat!! In Ontario we've been lucky at least 3 times this summer to see the temps hit 24. There's been no humidity to speak of and I've spent my summer wearing out my capri's as it just not warm enough for shorts!! And the rain We are going to float away here soon!!

We leave for our Alaska cruise 1 week from Friday and it's even been warmer there this summer then it has here!!

ETA And I just noticed I'm single digit dancin now!! WOO HOO

Enjoy the summer weather. I don't know what's up with us here in Ontario?? I was thinking that going to Orlando in the summer would not be a bad thing this year.
I wonder if that means we will have our summer in September when school returns??

Oh yeah, we are MELTING here! Yesterday was 32C with 85% humidity - I figure that's good training for Orlando in mid-September

Here's the thing that explains why BCers have some trouble with unexpectedly hot temperatures though - most of us do NOT have air-conditioners and even less of us have actual air-conditioning systems in our homes.

Yesterday, the temperature INSIDE my house at 11pm was 31C That is with two fans going full blast and all windows open

So, although I'm trying to look at this gorgeous (yet steamin' hot) weather as training for Orlando, it's not really true because they have air-conditioned hotel rooms to sleep in. Being able to sleep properly would help a lot (says the mom of two cranky boys who haven't been able to sleep properly in days now)

Nevertheless, it's beautiful weather and I'm determined to enjoy it as much as possible (but I'm still going to whine about the heat periodically )

I'm up in the middle of BC and these mid 30's temps will hopefully make camping nice this weekend. (much better than rain) Too bad there's a campfire ban on
DD7 has been making great use of my spray water bottle, and wets her hair down repeatedly throughout the day. with no ac the upstairs is still over 30 when the kids go to bed, and I send them off ot bed with wet hair.

Its a juggling act to keep the house all closed up during the day, and then open everything up once it starts to cool down at night.

My dogs think this Ontario weather is fabulous. I'd like a little more heat and a little more sunshine!

melting here too...

We are on Vancouver Island and I have been saying the same thing as I am sweltering in the heat... "This is training for Disney" but I'm seriously getting nervous how it will be.. If I am sweating from cleaning my bathroom how am I going to be walking around all day ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...

We have a small ac unit that sits in the window and a portable one that sits at my sliding door.. and my house is still over 30... ahhh

maybe I could just go drive around in my car all day hehehe

Thank goodness it cooled down. When DH and I were in Orlando Sept 06 it was in the high 30's with 100% humidity, even at 3am it was in the mid 20's. It was brutal, so we told each other right then and there that we would never complain about the heat again cause nothing could compare. This past week came close. The heat I can handle, it's the humidity that kills me. The worst part is not having AC to escape to, as we "normally" don't need it but this may be the norm for the future, Ugh.

Wednesday was the warmest day at 38.2 degrees C.

I haven't been on the computer much as the computer is upstairs in a room with full sun all day. I have been sleeping downstairs in the basement as it is way too hot upstairs.

Today was the first morning that the inside temperature was under 24 degrees in the early morning.

In Merritt, BC and it is soooo sooo hot here!
And with all those fires around, its smells like a camp fire when I go outside, our little valley is smoked in and its making things muggy/hotter, it feels like anyways!
