Boardwalk, Yacht Club or Beach Club?
We have a reservation for Nov 31st-Dec 6th at the Boardwalk... Me and dh's favorite park is Epcot and the kids love DHS so this is a great location for us. If you could choose between these three resorts which would you prefer? I would really like to hear some thoughts from people who have stayed at more then one of these resorts...
Thanks bunches! |

I have stayed at BW and YC but DH and I said for a family trip, BC would be our choice.
Why? We all love Epcot the most! But DH and I honeymooned at BW, so that is kinda "our" resort. Then we spent our 10 yr anniversary at YC. But BC seems to be the most family friendly of the three resorts, IMHO. But really, any of them are fantastic and the location is the best in all of WDW!

Just to clarify, they are all family friendly, but I guess the theming at BC seems to be more family friendly, to me. BW and YC seem to be a bit more elegant, although of course every resort at Disney is great for families....

OK, I voted YC, be we also really like the Beach Club Villas. We really like the YC/BC complex for the style and the POOL! The thing is that even if you are staying at the YC/BC, you are just a short walk away from the activities of the Boardwalk. But at the same time, you have exclusive use of Stormalong Bay. Now, between YC & BC, we prefer YC, because we like the theming just a little bit better and all rooms have full sized balconies.

I'm a DVC owner at BWV, but if I had to choose between the three for a cash stay, it would be Yacht Club, with Beach Club a close second. Nothing wrong with Boardwalk, but the other two are more kid-friendly with the Stormalong Bay.
You also have better dining choices there as well.

Thanks for the replies... It looks like I picked the least favorite of the three so maybe we will switch...

I don't know HOW you could go wrong with BWI. We stayed last month Club Level and simply loved it. In fact we are going back in December but DH wants to try another resort - YC this time - becauses he thinks NO vacation can be as great as BWI and if we go back to BWI there isn't any way it can be better so why try????? we just loved it that much. From the staff to the decor to the lobby to the nightlife, it was simply fantastic. Honestly me NOT going back to BWI is a huge leap for me! We loved their bakery, I loved the garden view they have - so peaceful...I loved the private little closed off rooms they have on each floor. Made me feel like I had my own living room...Just adored that place....

Boardwalk Inn was just renovated, the Villas are in progress. If you like swimming, YC/BC would be better for Stormalong Bay.

I have stayed at all 3 several times. Based on when you are going I would pick the BW.

We've stayed at the YC and BCV. I picked the BC. (If I could've picked BCV, I would've; we're DVC members and love the space.) I like YC/BC/BCV because of SAB, all the restaurants, the closeness to Epcot since it's our favorite park, and the theme-ing. The YC and BC/BCV themes are fantastic. BC/BCV felt like a (rather large) New England beach house. YC felt like an ivy league club or stately ship. While we have visited BW (and walked the boardwalk and eaten in the restaurants) several times, it's never appealed to us to stay there. I don't like the theme/room decor. Clowns also kind of turn me off, therefore, the clown slide doesn't really hit it for me. Also, I don't know how true this is, but our friend who owns at BWV has mentioned that the resort is a lot more noisier at night than the other resorts (especially now that Pleasure Island is closed and more people are turning to the boardwalk, particularly Jellyrolls, for evening/night entertainment). However, I seriously doubt that boardwalk view rooms are THAT loud, as I'm sure Disney would have (hopefully) thought into this and used serious sound-proofing. I think our friend was referring more to sitting out on the balcony or relaxing in her room with the sliding door open. Whatever you decide, all of these deluxe resorts are fantastic. You really can't go wrong. What it comes down to in the OP's particular question is theme-ing, as all of the resorts are within walking distance, have similar offerings and amenities, and are located in Epcot. I would basically just factor in the theme/decor of the resorts, as well as the pool if anyone in your party plans on spending lots of time swimming.

If we were planning on going during any other time of the year we would have only been
choosing between yacht or beach club but since its going to be in Dec I am not sure how much swimming we will be doing.. We practically just got back from our poly trip to disney (June 22-28th) and we promised the kids (14/18) we would stay closer to epcot next trip. I can honestly say I think any of these resorts will be more enjoyable for us. Poly was nice but it just didnt seem worth the extra money for us. |

So your kids ages are 14 and 18? I think BWI would be a good spot for you. We have stayed at all 3 Epcot resorts. For us, BC works the best because our kids are young and BC is a little more "active" in the lobby area, mostly due to the character breakfast there. We like that kind of atmosphere right now with our kids so young. To us, it felt like YC and BWI weren't as "busy" with young children and action. If 14 and 18 are the ages of your kids, I'd say BWI is a great choice. Espn will be right there for them....the boardwalk is great.
