My brother on disabilaty needs about a 40 foot walk out to his driveway he would like a cement sidewalk VERY PRICEY. Myself I'm willing to settle for a cheaper walk as long as there are no steps etc it's on a bit of a slope. I haven't seen it but I do know it's not just flat ground.
As it stands now brother can not get out of his house to go anywhere when it rains as the entire 40 foot turns to mud it's in the shade an brother won't cut shade trees I don't blame him there as they do shade his house an he does go out an sit in shade a lot etc. Even with walker with seat on it brother can't make the 40 foot walk out to the driveway even in good weather no mud by himself. He also has an electric scooter that sometimes he rides out then leaves sit in drive till he gets back home. The scooter to heavy for any of us to lift. Now I know there are agencys who will sometimes do jobs for the elderly an handicapped but WHO tell me where to call to maybe get some help with this matter please. TYIA |

Available agencies will, of course, vary from state to state and city to city. I would start by contacting a local Senior Citizens center, if you have one, they'd likely have info on the local agencies.
If you don't have a local senior center, try contacting a local nursing home/rehabilitation facility. You local city hall should also have someone that sees to ADA standards for new construction, so they may also have some leads on local agencies.

Type into google your state and/or county followed by "community action center." The community action centers are generally a collaborative and offer more than one service. I work for a CAC in Massachusetts and we are able to find services for people from different sources. For example a HeadStart parent might be eligible for WIC and not realize it. An Elder client may be eligible for Home Repair, Meals on Wheels, Fuel Assistance and Energy funds.

Call your states Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. They typically only help if you say you need this assistance so you can go to job search, etc. They may be able to help you even if you have no plans on working, they would know the local agency to help you. If you need help finding them in your state, PM me and I can get a contact name and number for you.
