AKL lobby smell - The DIS Discussion Forums

Does anyone know what the scent is (incense?) one smells when entering the AKL lobby?

That smell comes from the open flame cooking in Boma.

During our stay last summer, an CM told us that it's coming from the ventilating system. I missed that fragrance. It was a very soothing aroma.

It's the best, isn't it? I just assumed it was wafting in from Boma or Jiko...

I also love the music that plays throughout the resort. I tried to find out if it was a CD that could be purchased, but struck out. The music sold in the gift shop wasn't exactly the same. The management tried their best to help, but they hit a wall, too. I've gone online and found that you can download the lobby songs individually from i-Tunes, but I don't have an i-Pod.

For now, I just make due with my Animal Kingdom CD.

Our family was just talking about that smell. It is the best. We love AKL and can't wait to go there again some day.

We just returned yesterday from a 6 night stay at Jambo. Each time we arrived back at the resort, we all mentioned the smell and how much we loved it. I wish we could have packaged it and brought it home. I, too, thought it was from Boma or Jiko. Interesting that it is not.

We absolutely fell in love with this resort.

We are hoping to stay here our next trip. Obviously people like the smell but are you all saying it smells like meat on a grill? Or does it just smell like fire? We haven't stayed but have had dinner there I can't remember it smelling like anything.

its more a spice smell than anything else I think.

Cardimen, nutmeg and cinnamon. This is the scent that you smell in the lobby. That is what has captured something inside of me and that is why we always stay there exclusively.

The smell is THE BEST!!!

That, combined with the music in the lobby AND out by the pool, make AKL my favorite place to be

To me it smells like earth and ????

I have not been to Africa, I wonder if there are areas that smell like AKL?
