Seaworld Continued....
We went to Ignite! which we highly recommend! It’s a late night Dolphin show with Pyrotechnics and a fire dancer. All of these photos are straight out of the camera, no post processing; no time!

Thanks for sharing! Loving your trip report.

Do you mind telling me what camera you use? I have trouble, even with my expensive thing I bought last year, to take decent night photo's without a flash and have them turn out not blurry. I can't seem to hold still good enough and I'm sure not going to use a tripod.

Hi zeitzuge! I use a Nikon D90. For most of these photos on this trip, I used the Nikon 18-200mmVR lens. The Vibration Reduction feature in the lens helps to prevent some motion blur when hand holding. I find it especially helps at night...Well that, along with a high ISO. All of the Seaworld show photos were taken using the 18-200VR lens. The reach wasn't quite long enough for some of those shots, and the lens isn't a fast enough lens for low light, but it was all I brought with me, and I can't afford the pro lenses, which run about $2k. The indoor/dark rides at DL are taken with the D90 and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens. That lens, along with 3200 ISO helps me to get the low light shots hand held. The D90 has a (relatively) newer processor (it just came out in 2008) that allows much higher ISO than my older DSLR and especially P&S cameras. The sensors on the DSLRs are much larger than the P&S cameras so that's why one can use higher ISO with less digital noise. Shucks, there are some DSLRs now than can get ISOs as high as 25,000+ and they don't look noisy at all! I can't afford any of those though, so the D90 works for me and my budget.
What kind of camera are you using? I find that even with all the VR and fast lenses, in low light you have to really stop and take a moment to breathe and then take the shot. I take a deep breath and hold it as I click the shutter, and I try to keep my arms steadied against the sides of my torso.
Thanks for reading the T/R!

Shamu Rocks! And boy did he rock!

This show was quite simply AWESOME! What they do with these killer whales is nothing short of amazing! They use some sort of sign language to communicate with the whales. (I believe they do this with the dolphins too.)
Shamu Rocks incorporates popular rock songs like We Will Rock You and others to elevate the sense of excitement and touch on all the senses, not just the visual.
Anyway, here is some of what we saw. My photos do not do them justice…

The whales would often do a trick in which they dive into the pool and slide their way across a stage where they stop just in front of the trainer and pose.

Somehow they always knew to go back to the trainer for more instructions, treats, etc. They are very smart!

The trainers waved, and the whales waved too!

Then they did more tricks independent of each other.

The trainer would look like they were talking to the whale, and then the whale would follow the trainer and what they did.

Shamu rocks at SeaWorld Continued...

Or they were given commands and do what they were told…

The whales look so small in the photo above but when they’re next to the trainers you can see how big they really are:

A rock guitarist came out and played…

The whales started swimming & doing tricks to the music:

They did this turning, skidding thing that would send water flying over the edge of the tank!

Immediately following the show, the fireworks started. I didn’t have my tripod so I only took a couple and gave up:

The fireworks show is nothing like Disney, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it. It’s much better to see Shamu Rocks and catch whatever fireworks are overhead than to seek out the fireworks and miss Shamu!
On our way out, one of the whales came over to say goodnight:

Seaworld Continued...

They had a show with a bunch of performers, drummers, dancers, etc. I thought it was a pretty cool show which showcased their talent. Much less cheesy than HSM, if you know what I mean… I loved the drumline thing…

The dancers were cool too! I love that they did modern dance...

And the drum set player was very good!

It was interesting how they incorporated one with another:

Seaworld Continued...
We went to the Shark encounter:

We saw various sharks:

I found it interesting how they always had smaller fish in the same tank as the shark…lunch, perhaps?

And finally, the big shark tank…

Look at all those teeth! Scary!

Sorry about the lighting; that’s not flash, that’s something reflecting on the tank.

Seaworld Continued....
We went to another room and saw these:

They look so pretty with all their gold sparkly stuff in their flesh…It’s interesting to note that they didn’t move around the whole time. They just stayed in one place…which is quite the opposite of when they are feeding…

And in another room we saw these…Eels!

And that’s the end of our day at Seaworld!

We all thoroughly enjoyed our day at Seaworld and regretted that we didn’t make it a point to get there earlier so we could experience everything. We do intend to make it a point to go back there one day and take it all in. We were really impressed with how intelligent the mammals were. All we did was see the shows! We didn’t even have time for all the shows and we didn’t get to go on any rides. You could easily spend a whole day at this park and not run out of things to do. I do think it’s better for older people who can comprehend the intelligence of the mammals. I think for really little kids, it could get boring after a while…perhaps… They do have the Sesame Street Lights, Camera, Imagination show which we didn't see because we don't have a little one...

Next up...Back to park that Walt Built!

I am loving your photos & report.
I especially loved your Electric Light Parade pictures. Really brought back great memories of seeing it as a young girl at WDW. Funny coincidence too as I was listening to DIS radio & the music for the parade came on while I was looking at your photos. Disney magic at work.
Loved the Sea World photos too!!!!!
