Picture question

Not sure if this is the place to post this, but here goes. How can I take a photo and turn it into a pencil/pen drawing? The photo is of a marine dress hat. I have photoshop elements 6 but I haven't played with in enough to figure it out. My dd is marrying a marine and I want to make a logo for their invites of his hat and her tiara.

i have elements 5 so this is how to do it there...go to filter tab ( on the top by edit and file, like the 5th or so over) in the editor( not the quick edit) and it should have something called artistic in the drop down list. it has a pencil, a charcoal and all kinds of filters you just click on, slide a few settings and it does the work. just make sure your background ( the little squares on the very last icon in the editor tools palette) is the color you want . if not click on it and a set of colors come up and you can pick what you want...right now i can't get my elements to open and i don't remember which sets the paper color, the front or back block but just click till you get what you want.( it's the same place you set the color for the paint bucket)

By the way...when you photograph the hat, make sure to use a solid color background, preferably something opposite the hat (if it's white, use black...if black, use white). This will make it easier to 'cut out' the hat drawing, and not have a bunch of stray noise and lines from a busy background. If you've already taken the photo with the hat, you may try playing around with the contrast, to make the hat stand out as much as possible from the background before doing the artistic filter.
