I'm jumping in with both left feet!

I'm going to do it! I am going to take the leap of faith and plan a trip to the happiest place on earth and enjoy planning, and if fate makes us cancel again, I am permitting myself to order one item from the Disney site (on sale) that I truly want! This year is taking a toll on us, and we need some fun. DH, when there has been work has either been out of town hours away, or out of state! We are grateful he is working. We've had some major repairs, cars, air conditioner, garbage disposal,...just life). On July 6th, my mom passed away. 4 years ago, she had a stroke, and it blew (what I thought) close family apart. 8 kids, me being one of the youngest, divided. The last few months dealing with siblings (who would even talk with me) has been hard, Last 3 weeks, unbearable.Cannot even talk about funeral. So I so need to run away and be at the Happiest Place on Earth so much. I miss my weekly call to my mom and talking for hours.OMG this is turning into a crybaby story. That is not my intent. I am going to plan a great trip for myself and family. I am determined to celebrate my birthday 11/2 at Disneyland!I will be asking tons of questions over and over again! Whew, I need to looks at some Disneyland pictures.

I am very sorry about the loss of your mom.

When life hand you lemons make lemonade (or margaritas ;-) )!!! Sounds like a trip is just what the Dr. ordered.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom and the added stress/sadness of a family divided.

I hope your trip works out just the way you're hoping for. And I agree it will do wonders to lift your spirits a bit.

I'm sorry about your Mom. I'm glad you're jumping in, we will be here to help switch those left feet to right feet!

We've had fun DLR/DCA, we will miss you while we are gone. We took 14 trips from July 07-July 08 and around 16 from Jan 09-Jan 10.

I have never heard of that one before! By the way Tortilla Joe's has some great margaritas!

Sorry to hear about your rough road of year you had. Disneyland would be a great thing to look forward to. Sending you magical thoughts and good wishes for your trip.

So sorry to hear about your mom and your extended family falling to pieces. DH and I just returned from a trip to DLR - just the two of us - to celebrate his b-day and the month before we left was filled with drama and trauma for us. We sooo needed to get away to a happy place, where we could relax and enjoy being together. It made a big difference!

We will be there the first week of Nov. (1-6) and are really looking forward to it. I hope your trip becomes reality and you have a chance to enjoy your family and relax and reconnect. I hope things work out so you can go.

I know how it feels to have a visit to Disneyland following a difficult month. Best of luck and hopefully everything works out.

I am truly sorry for your loss.

It sounds like you really could use a vacay! I think half (ok, a third!) the fun is planning. The small tasks that it takes to prepare for a trip to Disneyland are a nice distraction from daily hum-drum life.

Good luck!

Linda, I knew about your DH's work situation (you explained it over on my TR thread), and I remember we discussed how tough looking for work and keeping work can be and having to take a job that is not the ideal just to have income. I didn't know about your mom's heath, though. I am so sorry to hear that. I have also had people in my life who suffered strokes or stroke-related problems long after the stroke itself and it is awful and very scary.

I do hope that the planning of your DLR trip - and I also remember you were not sure what the fate of the next DLR trip would be - brings you a lot of joy and comfort. You can kind of lose yourself in the planning of all the details of the trip, and everyone here will be glad to help you with every step of it.
