Any single riders experience this?
I was at DW in June and for one reason or another I went on a few rides by myself.
The CM put me in the very back row of POTC and seated a family of 4 after me in the very front. Again on jungle cruise--the boat was not full. There were 2 other couples and myself. I sat on an outside seat and he asked me to sit in the middle--I only way a little over 100 lbs. Don't get me wrong--it did not upset me. I just wondered why I did not get the front seat since was there first. |

I had the opposite thing happen to me on POTC in DL. I was given front row seating...but then they didn't put anyone else in the boat...sent me along totally solo on the boat. I thought that was rather odd. Since there were other people in line...it had been about a 10 line to wait in...not bad...but still there was a line. <shrug>

I've had that happen on POTC, too. I'm pretty sure it happened on IASW, as well. Besides just looking awkward when the boat is more than half empty, I think it also made the family feel a little weird. "Oh, hey! We get a boat to ourself... wait, no. They put some girl with us. Huh."

An even weirder feeling is when they just put you in 1 row, and a "couple" in the row directly behind or in front of you, and nobody else!
But! At MNSSHP, there was just myself and then a couple with a their little girl. We chatted momentarily going thru the line, and the attendant put them in front, and motioned me to a row behind, but bless their hearts, they asked me to sit in the row with them- saying it would be more fun! (and it really was! We all hooted and hollered together.... don't think that would have happened if we were in diff rows- would have been more awkward). I wonder if they were Dissers? I didn't know much about the Disboards last Sept, but I'm expecting I'll be flashing my lime green mickey about this trip! Not looking to hook up with others, but still, in terms of sharing a ride or lineup, or even at the bar, that would sure break the ice fast! |

I was on The Land boat ride and they gave me one of those boats to myself. I felt so awkward! Even the attendant that has to sit in that area before the greenhouse laughed at me.

The back of the POTC boat is smaller so they are trained to put smaller parties in that seat. That's according to a friend who worked there many, many years ago. It happened to me too.
I don't know about the other rides though. |

This may be a stupid question but could someone please tell me about the lime green mickeys? Do you just cut one out of construction paper and pin it on?
I am considering a solo trip next year as my family is all grown up and DH won't travel anymore.

I had a problem on the Safari ride. I rode it twice and both times they put be on the far right side. My third time riding I asked if I could sit on the left side so I could get some different pictures. The CM gave me a lecture about how they have to fill the rows. I said that's fine, let me go in first then fill the row. I don't see how hard that can be! Acting like I was breaking some major ride boarding law, he let me get in first. Some people take their jobs way to seriously!

Home Depot has Lime Green Mickey heads in the paint area.. it is a Mickey paint swatch.. we use those to identify ourselves as DISers.. I cut it out , have one for both sides and laminate it .. and then hang it on my camera strap..

Jungle Cruise
I just got back and lst Friday night I was in line at Jungle Cruise.. the CM that was loading the boat asked how many and I said one.
.he replied AW that is too bad.. and I said no it is very nice .. and went on the boat.. but one would think that they cover solos at CM training and his response was not appropriate..

Thanks so much, Geffric. I have a feeling that my next trip will be solo as the rest of my family is not as gung-ho about WDW. Can you imagine - their response is "been there, done that"!!!

Me Too
I usally ask for the back of POTC and IASW I seem to enjoy it more.
On Safari ride, the CM had a couple then me then another couple so I was in between two separate parties. When i rode later that day, I got the same seating but asked the CM if I could wait and he said it would be okay. I ride this ride a lot solo and that was the only day that happened to me, but I have noticed families look at you weird when you go to sit in thier row if the CM has them load first. |

I honestly don't remember ever really talking about "solo" guests when I trained to be a CM a couple years ago. We learned about appropriate things to say, body language, etc...but nothing just specifically how to talk to a solo guest. I think because i read these boards and such I knew a lot of people went solo and had no problem talking to them - minus the weird sympathy

I have had a few odd things happen to me.
The first year the Winnie the Pooh ride opened up, it was very, very crowded. They are basically four person cars - two seats in front and two in back. The couple ahead of me was from Japan and spoke NO English. When I was motioned into their queue line, they turned around and started yelling something in Japanese at the CM and lightly pushed me aside - luckily the couple in the next queue, with one small child pulled me over to their line before it got out of hand. And the same year, on the Safari, A CM motioned me in at the last minute after everyone was seated, to a row with a mother and two children. They had already spread out across the row - and the mother scowled at me and the CM when she told me to go ahead and get in that vehicle in their row. The entire time, the mother was seated next to me and showed her displeasure at me being there by bumping into me "accidently" every time I raised my camera. It is a bumpy ride, but it just seemed peculiarly like she was doing it on purpose. She also repeated her displeasure to her daughter a couple of times that she had expected to be on the outside and get the pictures. I leaned back and let her take her pictures - that seemed to cool things off a bit. I got back in line and went again and had a whole entire row to myself and took my pictures that time. And from time to time, I have had people push ahead of me in line; mostly foreigners, who feel that since I am by myself I will be able to get in anything fairly quickly.
