Red face Newbie Questions from a Pooh sized non-swimmer with a spouse in an EVC

Thinking about Discovery Cove in Nov for me, DH and DD9. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

OK - questions are:

1. Can an EVC even be used in the park? DH has standing, long walking distance issues. He is still a strong swimmer despite his issue (permanent side effects of cancer treatment).

Can he take the EVC to the pool areas?

On the river - does it circle back on itself or leave you at a different destination?

Is there EVC parking like Disney stroller parking?

2. Swimming. I don't but DH and DD may have been fish in another life. Are the reef and river areas all deep or is there "wading level" water to hang out in?

3. River - must you float, swim through deep areas or can you scoot along some sort of "bank" to get through the deeper areas

4. Dolphin swim - we'd all do it but if I didn't want my turn in the deep water for the ride could I let my DD go in my place - even though it would be a "second turn" type thing for her? Or would I have to take my turn in a shallow part of the dolphin pool?

I know DH & DD would have a blast here. The Disney water parks would be too much in our case, and I wouldn't enjoy it. I actually think DC would be fun for me even if I am mistaken for a beached whale!

Thanks for any input you can share.

OK...I too use an ECV for similar reasons to your husband...I also worked in reservations at the park for a short period so hopefully I can answer your questions.

1. It would not be practical to use an ecv in the park as it is mostly beach type areas and water...they have beach wheelchairs with overinflated wheels that kind of look like big soccer balls but someone would be needed to push him.
2. My mum isn't a big swimmer and she wore a life vest throughout the day, provided by DC so she just floated around.
3. You can float and there are bits you can get out like the aviary...it goes round in a circle.
4. I think the actual swim component would be at the discretion of the trainer but they won't make you do something you aren't comfortable with.

You would love it...they really look after you!!!

Thanks so much - you answered everything! I suspected the EVC might be a bit of a problem, but we'll find way to work things out. Maybe he'll just need rest day the day after. Enjoy your trip.

Honestly, get the beach wheelchair if there is someone who can push him. They are a lot of fun and quite bouncy!
