Spa and Concussion

Ok I have no idea where to post this or search for an answer
I've tried google and webmd and a bunch of other sites looking.
Since Resorts have spas i'm asking here.

But my wife has a mild concussion..is it safe for her to go to
the spa and sit in a sauna?
Would that be good for it? or even bad for it?

I'm hoping someone here has some medical knowledge to answer.

And yes she saw a doctor and will be fine.
but no we didn't think to ask at the time.

I believe you would be much better off asking the doctor that treated her rather than relying on an opinion from someone on here. Even someone with medical experience would be crazy to put their recommendation out there without examining the patient first. IMHO

Check with your doctor

I had a concussion last year and received a lot of conflicting advice about what was and was not OK. I would definitely ask an MD before she uses the spa. My own completely unprofessional and without medical background take on the situation is this: concussions make one prone to dizziness and nausea. Hot tubs can make you a little woozy and nauseated, too. Why risk anything?

My son has had a number of concussionis from football and wrestling. It really depends on the severity of the concussion and you are better off asking your doctor. Each patient is different. What my son did two or three days after his concussion might not be what your doctor would recommend.

I specialize in brain trauma. I won't give advice to someone I haven't met and haven't reviewed the records of. Please call that doctor on the phone and request an answer to your question. You probably won't get the doc on the phone right when you call, but you can expect a call back by the end of the day, hopefully.

If this was an emergency department doc, then fell free to call your primary care doc, if you have one.

Concussions are serious business ... sites like WebMD can be useful for general info but you should NEVER EVER EVER base life-and-death decisions on info you read on a website. Please.
