Help with "cake from a box"

My daughter is making a cake from a box and last year on here several posters said they doctor theirs up by also adding _____. I can't remember what you all do! Can you help us? TIA

I use applesauce instead of the oil, but I know some people add in a can of pop.

Thanks, SaraJayne. That's not it though. It wasn't a substitute, it was a "use another egg" or something. I can't remember for the life of me what it was.

Hmm...maybe it was a box of pudding. I kept thinking it was doubling something.

So do you all add pudding to the mix?

Thanks for your help.

That's it! Thank you very much! I tried to search but could not find it. She was rushing me so she could get started so I thought it would easier to just post. Of course, now she is watching "UP" on Disney channel so she's not in a hurry.

No prob. I knew I posted something on that thread back then, so I just looked up my old posts.

An extra egg also is great in a brownie mix. Like the cake, don't do it if you are making them from scratch.

Use buttermilk instead of the water, add an extra egg, and beat on high 10 minutes.

That's what I do. Makes the cake batter thicker and tastier.

I only started doing this a year ago and DH and the kids have all said my cupcakes are way better than they used to be. I credit the pudding!

I add an extra egg. I like it moist!
