October Food, Wine, and Golf Trip ... a few questions
This October, we're going to take our first F & W festival trip as DVC members. We have APs, a TiW card, and a DVC golf card. (As of this morning, we have a first round of ADRs booked, but we know we will probably change them once we see the official schedule of F & W events.) I'm feeling pretty organized, but I do have a few questions...
Are there any discounts available at the F & W festival events or around the world food kiosks for DVC members, AP holders, or TiW owners? (I've been sort of assuming not, but it doesn't hurt to ask... I've been pleasantly surprised before.) What is the policy on children at the various F & W events and dinners? Are they not permitted at all at some events, or are they just not allowed to drink? What is the weather likely to be like in mid October? DM and DSF are planning to play golf at least three days of the trip. I need to book them some tee times... I know the DVC discounts are better after 10, but are they going to get miserably hot if I don't try to book them 7am tee times? DM and DSF want to go into Epcot for the F & W festival at least a couple of days. (DH, DS, and I have APs.) Am I right in thinking that the smartest thing for them to do is to get 10 day non-expiring passes and just use them as needed?

As far as children at F&W events, I must admit that I've never seen any children at the 1 hour free events where wine is served. I have seen a few under 21, but not much and they weren't served. Here's the audience from one of the events-

We have brought our teenagers to many of the special events for F&W. They have gone to Signature Dinners, Exquisite Evenings, PFTS, Lunch & Learn and some demos. Of course they can't partake in the liquor and the price is the same for them regardless of that. I've seen other people bring teenagers, but can say I've never seen smaller children at the special events. Its a personal choice though. No discounts in years past for TIW/DVC/AP, but you never know if that will change in the future. Weather in mid-October is still plenty hot and definitely pool worthy. If your from Houston though, I can't see it being much different than it is where you are.

Yes, we're from Houston. They generally prefer to golf fairly early in the morning here, even into October, because the humidity combines with the heat to make outdoor activities unpleasant for much of the year. My guess is that they'll be happy enough at WDW just about any time of day in October, so thanks for the help.
We'll be at WDW with 4 adults and one 4 year old. DS is used to eating out at nice restaurants, both at home and on vacation. (He has accompanied us to Cali Grill, Bistro de Paris, and Jiko on multiple occasions, and always done exceptionally well.) We were wondering if we booked any of the special F & W dinners or went to the wine tastings, if there were EVER young children present. DM and DSF do not believe in leaving him in any sort of kid care on vacation, so since they are with us for this trip, our options will be bringing him with us, splitting up (letting DH attend some things while I entertain DS, probably), or trying to convince DM to watch him while DH and I attend together.

Yup, the wine was free. As you can see from the picture, however, it wasn't a big amount. And no seconds! Here's our free champagne at another one-
![]() And free food- ![]() I was pretty full after going to an afternoon of events, just going from one free event to another. This lady, however, was the master of ceremonies at every event I went to, and I have no doubt that she was "pretty happy" by the end of the day-
