Crazy experience at It's a Small World

On one of our several rides of IASW Sunday night (my 3 year old loved this ride), we had a very weird experience. We were seated in the third row of the boat. In front of us was a 30 something couple and a slightly older man. The front row had two girls, I'd say about 8-12, that belonged to the couple. As soon as we got clear of the dock, the girls started hurling money in an attempt to hit anything they could. As we were approaching the entryway to the ride, they threw some coins at the arch, causing them to come down and hit the man in the back of the boat ahead of us. He glared at them for about 30 seconds, but he finally just turned around. I thought at that point that their parents didn't see what they did, but I quickly figured out that they just didn't care. As we went through the ride, they continued to chunk coins at everything in the ride, sometimes standing up to gain more momentum. Every so often, the older man would weakly tell them to just throw in the water, but they wouldn't pay any attention to him. When they would run out of coins, the mother would reach into her purse and give them some more from the roll she had ready to go. We were shocked at the behavior of not only the kids, but more so the parents! My husband started videotaping them about halfway through. The video is dark, but you can hear the sound of the coins hitting the stuff in the ride. I thought about telling the CM at the end of the ride, but from everything I've read on here, I was pretty sure it wouldn't do any good.

Here's the links to the video; it's in 2 parts:

That is odd behavior. Did they think that it was a giant wishing well?

Alot of people put money into the water there -- but I have never seen anyone hurl at it - and I am surprised that the person monitoring the boats didn't see them standing. That would have at least warranted a PA announcement to stay seated.

I have to agree that is a little strange, but I would have had more of a problem with you video taping my children, then posting them on the internet, if I were them.

That is crazy! As I was reading your story I thought of our trip, what is it with this ride that parents let their kids act up.

When we went in March we were in a boat with some "tourists" 3 men and 3 kids ages ~ 5-9 the men were all taking so many pictures they weren't paying any attention to the kids (seated behind them). The kids were walking back and forth causing the boat to rock extremely violent, putting their hands in the water, trying to grab things. It was nuts.
It made our ride unenjoyable.

Yikes, I winced every time I heard a coin hitting!
Great, the ride is just refurbished and now there are chips in the paint.

I hope the parents see your video and realize how absurd it was to allow those kids to do that!

Since these parents don't really strike me as being the type to care what their little cupcakes are doing, I doubt that they would have really noticed that someone was videotaping them.

Wow, just wow. My tail would have been dragged out of the Magic Kingdom so fast I wouldn't have had a chance to get a word out, vacation or not.

I wonder if they did that on any other rides.

People never cease to amaze me. Who would encourage their children to do that? It makes me sad that these kids will be adults with my children.

It's really a self-correcting issue. If folks control their kids then people won't videotape them acting out while their parents encourage them.

People with a sense of entitlement.
