Crowds first week of January

How are the crowds the first week of January? We will be arriving December 31 and leaving January 9. I know it will still be packed the 31st and the 1st. I figure most people will be heading home the 2nd and 3rd. How will it be after that? I've been before the 2nd and 3rd weeks in December, several wees in September and the first week of October. Those are the weeks I have been in the most recent years is that helps you to have anything to compare it to.

But I'm also wondering what the wait times will be like on the large rides. We will have my sisters, nephews, my father and step-mother with us. I don't want it to be too crowded since this will be the first trip I've had with my nephews. I hope to get to do a lot with them.

i went this year from the 5th to 10th and honestly, the crowds were just right. even toy story mania was only a 30 min wait, practically walked on to everything else.

That's great to hear! Those are my kind of crowds. Last year we went Dec. 6 - 13 expecting light crowds but everything was packed. I was so disappointed because not only was it our Honeymoon but also my husband's first WDW trip.

I have to disgaree with PP. The closer it gets to the marathon, the thicker the crowds get. It is no longer the super Slow No Crowds time of year that it used to be (this is when we used to go each year.) We were there in 2008 and by teh day before teh marathon, waits were 45-60 minutes for most rides. A bus driver told us that over 40,000 guests would arrive in conjunction with the marathon. I would put the crowds on par with the first week in December.

Thanks Jenny. I was wondering how the marathon affected the crowds.

We've gone twice the first week of January, and those were the most crowded weeks we've ever seen! Families with school-age children stayed throughout the week, along with tons of visitors from Britain and South America who get extended holidays. Our resort was filled with marathoners as well.

We go down for the Marathon every year and honestly, we don't find it to be overly crowded!

Thanks. Guess we just have to wait and see for ourselves. No matter what we are going to have a great time! This will be my first trip with my nephews and I'm going to enjoy seeing it through their eyes.

If it is crowded I will have to keep reminding myself not to stress. I will have to remind myself that we are glad and lucky to be there together and that I want to enjoy every second of it.
