Windsor Hills or Emerald Isle/Terra Verde???
Hi all,
I am completely new to this site! I haven't been to DW in years! I'm am now going with husband, 3 1/2 yr. old, 1 yr. old and two aunties.. I am thinking about booking a house thru allstarvacationhomes.com in the Windsor Hill Community for 1st or 2nd week of December. Is this a good choice for family of 4 (with 2 additional adults)? And are the cost savings worth staying offsite? Some also recommended Terra Verde and Emerald Isle resorts, but I hear Windsor Hills is closer. Is that important, traffic wise? Never done WH, but we've stayed in Windsor Palms, Indian Ridge and Emerald Isle and they really do not take that much more time, traffic wise.
For six people you're talking 2 rooms or a big family suite, and a private place should save you money. I'd suggest just getting the best deal on the nicest place you can. Plus you get kitchen, laundry, all those amenities which saves on food and stuff. Best of luck. |

Windsor Hills is the newest by 2 or 3 yrs. Windsor Hills and Emerald Island are in the same area. Terra Verde is in the South Poinciana Blvd area on the east end of 192. It would take longer than WH or EI.
Here's a map to show you where everything is located. Windsor Hills is #1 Emerald Island #15 and Terra Verde # 62 http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...5,0.11055&z=13 I've stayed in both WH and EI and they are very similar, very nice. WH has a larger community pool with slide but no pool bar. EI has a tiki bar but smaller pool. If you're staying in a pool home with your own private pool then you probably won't care. When we stay in a pool home we rarely go to the main pool.

Would love to be able to sit on the couch for a few days, get a good book, and do NOTHING!

I stayed at Terre Verde in 2007 and am going back there next week!
Terre Verde, while not as close as Windsor Hills, is still a fairly quick ride. I would say 10-12 minutes. I have found it to be quite a bit cheaper than Windsor Hill but it probably does not have the amenities so that might account for it. It is a gated community, very well kept up, has a community center and a very nice community pool although we never had time to use it. We rented an end-unit townhouse with 4 bedrooms and it had its own little pool in the back. I am renting the same townhouse next week. You can't beat $700 total for a Thursday-Thursday rental. Windsor Hills was going to be about double that price. Having said that, I would like to try out Windsor Hills at some point!

Rolling Hills is a neighborhood that often gets overlooked. It's just past Formosa Gardens, a bit older, but the homes (not all rentals, nice quiet neighborhood) are kept up very well and many back up to a lake/pond that affords lovely sunsets and far more privacy. Rates seem to be a bit better too!
With a private heated pool, we have no interest in a community pool no matter how fancy, but that's our preference. Good luck and have a wonderful vacation!
