Cool To Kiss or Not to Kiss, In the Disney Parks ?

I've held my partner's hand for a short time, while walking in the Disney Parks. Usually I get a little self concious and only do it for about 20 seconds.

I've put my hands on his shoulders too. But heck I do that with my best friends, female or male.

But I haven't kissed my partner in the parks yet.

Do any of you kiss your partners in the Disney Parks or Restaurants?

I'm not talking about making out, just simple kissing across the table say at a romantic EPCOT restaurant. Do you feel self concious if there are children nearby, or do you feel free to just kiss?

I am assuming someone will say they don't want to see anyone kissing in the parks, straight or gay. But seriously who gets upset when you see two straight honeymooners doing that, or a young straight couple just doing a simple kiss. I really doubt I will see a thread complaining about simple straight kissing in Disboards.

I'm going to EPCOT hopefully for New Years Eve, and I am surelly going to kiss my partner Jay as ILLUMINATIONS hits the midnight hour.

So have you kissed your boyfriend/girlfriend/partner at the Parks?

We have kissed in the parks -- we even had a Disney photographer take a picture of us doing it! BUT that was because she was making a big deal about the couple before us kissing (a straight couple) -- teasing them, making them hold the kiss while she focused, etc. She spent a lot of time with them, and made a big deal of the kissing thing. It was nighttime, so it wasn't super obvious -- we were in the Germany pavilion in front of the fountain. My gaydar was tinging a bit in response to the photographer, and to be honest, I probably would have done it anyway, just cuz the couple in front of us did and I thought the pics would turn out cute!! So after a couple of poses we got to the point where she had made the straight couple kiss, but she didn't suggest it to us!! I didn't understand why, since we were obviously a couple and posed with our arms around one another in the other pics she took of us. SO -- I asked her if we got to kiss too!! She looked a bit uncomfortable and said something like, "if you want to." Well, hell YEAH I wanted to, so we did!! For two photographs! For some reason she didn't draw out the session for us like she did the straight couple, nor did she tease us and make us hold the kiss, etc., but we got our pics. And hey, if it made her uncomfortable, perhaps she shouldn't make a big deal about ANY couples kissing.

It kind of ticked me off that she was obviously NOT going to ask us to kiss (or ask us if we wanted to) even though she feels totally comfortable doing so with straight couples, but hey, we were at our happy place and didn't let it bug us. In fact, we got a bit of a giggle about the fact that her little performance with the straight couple had backfired on her.

I guess I would just say -- choose your moments, considering who's around you. We don't worry about holding hands at Disney, but we're cautious about kissing. Not that we don't do it, but we're pretty discrete.

I say go for it.
Love is a beautiful thing and no one should squash it.

When my boyfriend and I went to Disneyland for my birthday, we saw a gay couple holding hands. We thought it was the cutest thing ever and they looked so happy together!

(People should get over themselves if they don't want to see couples kissing, gay or straight. Chances are they don't have anyone kiss themselves, and that brings on the jealousy.)

Hmmm, I guess I'm someone that should get over himself as I don't really like to see it, straight or gay. I always find it a bit cringe-worthy... Its when they walk around practically attached at the hip or wherever that gets me.

Paint me as a bitter old queen if you will, but that's my tuppence on it!

A quick peck or kiss is fine. And certainly hand holding.

Extended kissing/making out, is a bit much for either orientation.

I've kissed my wife, simply. Nothing elaborate or scene creating, or even attention drawing.

I have to say though, some of the heterosexual kissing and sexual displays that I see in WDW alone turn my stomach.

Cool

Okay, I feel comfortable enough to kiss on New Year's Eve.

But it will be more than a peck and less than a make out scene, after all you just can't kiss your loved one for 1 second on New Years Eve, I think it is illegal. It must be at least a 5 second kiss.

Small kisses I think are fine

I think that small kisses are fine but over doing it isn't appropriate at Disney. My partner and I have - small quick but then agin we've been married 10 years and that's about all we do on a daily basis
We have 4 kids and didn't think about it much until we had kids and then realized that we didn't like anyone over doing it in front of my kids - straight or gay - just makes me uncomfortable.

With that said you should be able to do what you want and if people like me don't like PDA then I just steer my kids the other way.

Quick affectionate kisses are fine, it's the tonsil-seeking drool-fests (from any orientation) that makes me uncomfortable.

I hope you do!

I know I will be giving my husband lots of "I'm so happy kisses" when we're there in September. No make out sessions in public but spontanious bursts of joyful "I love you's"

If nobody thinks twice about these kinds of kisses, then that should apply to all couples across the board.

I'm straight but I say sure why not share those loving fun times with a kiss. As others have said the whole make out sessions should be done privately straight or gay.
I think it's sad that not everyone feels comfortable doing this, I know it's because some have had some back lashes from others not so open minded but it still should be ok in my eyes. I raised my children with the same openness.

Well said. Same rules of etiquette should apply for all orientations. That's only fair!

I'm straight, but in my opinion, no one should make out in a public place that is usually full of children! LOL! But, small kisses, who cares? And honestly, I would rather see a couple kissing sweetly than a parent yelling at their child. Not that I haven't been guilty of the latter. I wouldn't worry about it. Heck, NYE, who doesn't get a kiss from their significant other???????

I've been a little wiery of doing it as well. I don't want to offend any one unless I see the couple actually acting like a couple. And some gay couples are a little wiery themselves of PDA for a picture.
I've made a fool of myself as well after a long day... I've called kids "mom" before (there was a significant age difference, just not enough for that), asked brother/sister to kiss (it wasn't the sun making my face that red)... So I finally went the fool proof way, if there were children I assumed the two adults with them were the kid's parents.
So I would do a family photo, ask the kids to come over to me (whisper to them to stay right here) and then put the camera back up and catch the parents off guard. They're usually not inclined to do it if asked.
But just to let you know... It was NOT me there because I never worked a day at Epcot.

My favorite thing for kissing at night is it takes 3 seconds to take a night photo... so I tell them to stand real still, take my two standard photos, then tell them to kiss but "hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it" usually till i got tounge tied and the couple was laughing too hard trying to keep thier lips locked and the photo was done about 20 seconds ago. But I would make a big deal over any one that wanted to do it. Sorry you got such a crappy photographer.
