we go yr round- so last yr ended on Jun 4th (or so) and this yr starts today, first break is in Sept, for 3 weeks then we return for 2nd quarter which ends mid December (why we can go to WDW then) return after the new year for 3rd quarter then off again in March and then return for 4th quarter which ends around Memorial day/ firts of June. We LOVE it!!

I'd love for my boys to go to year-round school...that calendar sounds great to me.

Congrats on making it on time, that's a feat in this house!

I would be sitting on the patio of the Fontana bar at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas watching the dancing fountains on a warm balmy night whilst sipping vintage Champagne

Oh my, I am a teacher in England and we haven't broken up for the summer yet!!! We break up tomorrow, which is a week earlier than usual. This year we have a 7 week summer break instead of the usual 6.

Uhg...your summer break is just starting and ours is about to end. The kids start back here on Aug. 10 and the teachers go back a week earlier. What breaks do you get during the school year?

I wish we were progressive enough in these parts for that. That schedule sounds perfect!
Plus you don't have to spend the first month of school filling their heads with what was lost over the long summer break.

We really like it - yes it is a public school in the suburbs of St Louis- I think they started it in the early 80s to accomidate a huge population boom (at that time they had 5 cycles stopping and starting at different times but now all are on 1 and it is just elementary) - and we do get to enjoy summer they have a 6 week or so break (this yr we had a few snow days to make up) - they were ready to go back!! Believe me any way it is nice to break things up, we are involved on too many activities and we all get a nice break when we need it.
Penguin you are totally right- they can pick up pretty much where they stopped last year without spending the first few weeks relearning the 4th quarter. The school here are very good - we like it anyway.
