PhotoShop Elements HELP!! UPDATE - IT'S ALL GOOD!

I just downloaded a trial version of PSE to my computer.
I was playing with it and trying to see if I could figure out how to do designs on my own.
I made a few pages with no real issues, testing color fills and text and pictures, etc.

Then all of the sudden, I could no longer get any text to show up on anything.
When I click on the text tool, I get the text cursor without a problem.
But when I click in the screen to type, I get a dot and it won't give me the text line I was getting before. The dot just sits there and I get no text, no nothing.

I can make a text box, but no matter what I do I cannot get any text to show up. And it isn't hidden. As I said, the dot just sits there as I type.

Can anyone tell me what is happening?
Did I inadvertently hit a button or tool that is messing me up?

did you try creating a new layer and then trying the text tool again?

I tried that and everything else I could think of.

FINALLY, after fighting for over an hour with it, I tried going into one of the other projects I had previously put text into.

Once I clicked on that, it apparently reset whatever had gone haywire.

Still don't know what happened, but at least I know how to undo it now!!
