Fernwood Resort...Camelback Water Park...review of either?
Has anyone stayed at this resort recently? Specifically in a villa? Thoughts/Reviews?
What is the overall resort like...activities..pools? How is the water park at Camelbeach? Thanks |

I was at Camelbeach yesterday with my husband, niece and nephew.
I think it is a great park. Clean and free parking. We brought lunch. If you pay $10 for a picnic table it is yours for the day. You are given a wristband that has the table number on it. The slides are great. The wave pool has stronger waves than Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach in my opinion. I think it is great - I also saved $10 per person getting the tickets at AAA ( I live about 1hr 45 min from the park. I recommend water shoes or wearing flip flops and leaving them in the cubbies at each slide. I found the pavers and cement really hurt my legs and feet when I went last year.

I haven't been to fernwood in 20 years and it was dumpy then. last October my husband wanted to stay there, but when I looked into it I read reports that claimed they had armed guards! Ouch! I can't imagine what goes on there. As for the condos, that may be a different story, but I would really look into it on several sites before booking. We stayed at the Shawnee Inn and it was good for a night or two. They also have the timeshare units as well. Do your research!!!!!

RE: Fernwood
I stayed in the condos 10 years ago and they were very nice. As for the hotel...I don't know how it is in the summer, but I know in the winter (ski season) they get bus tour groups that come up to party (open bars, happy hours, etc), and it's loud and not family-friendly. Maybe the summer is quieter though? Like I said, as of 10 years ago, the condos were nice!
