Where would you stay for 1 night?
Yes, we're crazy but dh and I will be going to FL for 1 night in Sept. and can't decide where to stay. We arrive MCO at 10 am Sat and depart 5:30 pm Sun evening. Our kids will be with my parents at the shore for the weekend and I found $30 airfare each way including all taxes.
Figured what the heck, we've been to WDW around 15 times but have only stayed onsite twice: 2001 at ASSports and Feb 09 to CBR. (We have a 3br ts offsite.) My first thought was to splurge and stay at the Poly which we've always wanted to but then we'd feel inclined to do MK/EPCOT which dh would prefer to do with the kids. It would be silly to pay for monorail hotel and not use it. Dh has always wanted to stay at the Swan/Dolphin but then we'd still have to rent a car (no ME) which rates have been so high lately it's not worth it. I just want to relax by a nice pool and enjoy some quiet time with dh. We'll be doing WDW and US/IOA for 9 nts end of Aug/LD weekend so we should get our fill of parks then and our getaway is only 2 weeks later. I'm thinking YC or BC or something like that. Maybe WL? Something with nice theming that we'd enjoy just being at the resort. Why is BC $40/nt more than BCV? Do you get different service? We normally enjoy a full kitchen at our TS but who cares for 1 nt. as long as it has a coffeemaker I'll be fine. Which is closest to boat launch to EPCOT? Nicest pool? I keep reading about SAB but is it just fun for kids? adults too? What makes it special? In pictures it looks like a reg pool with a ship nearby. ![]() Dh is also thinking of staying onsite at Universal. Our AP rates are super low and all hotels are deluxe but we've kind of 'been there, done that' many times too and I just want something different for us. By the time we rent a car and pay for parking there, it's up to $259 so might as well try a deluxe @ a Disney hotel. GF is $347 and I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a hotel stay. Sorry this is so long. There's so many to choose from! Which deluxes have recently been remodeled and which are in need of? Maybe that will help narrow it down. Dh is a bit picky when it comes to things looking old & worn. Thanks everyone!!! ![]() Any feedback/opinions is appreciated!

If I was only going for one night I would probably splurge on Grand Floridian or Polynesian or Boardwalk or Beach Club. I figure I can't stomach $350+ a night for a week or 10 days, but I could for one night just to check the place out and see if it was worth it.

YC!!! I think as just a couple with no children on this trip and you want a great pool, easy walk to Epcot, I would choose Yacht Club.

I am wondering if you are planning to go to Epcot or any parks?
I stayed at the Swan last year & it was great to be able to walk to Epcot. We also took the boat to Epcot & the Studios. We enjoyed walking around the boardwalk area. The rooms were very nice, we had a king bed & a couch. The bed was very comfortable. There was a sink in the bathroom as well as outside the bathroom. Sometimes you can get low rates for the Swan/Dolphin. Beware that there are other fees at Swan/Dolphin to add to final price. Many years ago I stayed at Poly. & loved it. I think it is a very romantic hotel. You can walk to TTC & get monorail to Epcot. I haven't stayed at YC or BC but hear they are great. Good luck & have a great trip! |

I don't know. We have non-exp hoppers w/water parks so we could if we decide to. I guess it depends; how much relaxing can we do? hee hee. Could we really get so close and not go? I don't know, we've never tried. Dh thinks visiting any parks won't be the same w/o the kids there. I'm thinking, Duh honey, that's the whole point. lol! Thanks! Does anyone know which have had recent renovations?

If you are thinking an Epcot resort would be better for you, I'd go with BW. If you want to be closer to MK I'd go with Poly or WL. BC tends to attract more families and so it can be louder. With being an adults trip, this may not be appealing to you.

For one night, I'd pick a garden suite at BWI. Romantic, beautiful room, club level services, including continental breakfast, equal distance between Epcot and DHS.

Okay I LOVE WDW but for one night I would choose PBH at US/IOA. Beautiful theming 5 star quaility great pools - easy walk or boat ride to citywalk eateries and nightlife if you so choose to and since you have AP and would be on site COULD easily hit a ride or show with very little wait time. AND is like a deluxe at WDW at a moderate price with either the APH or AAA discount.

If you are not going to any WDW parks, I would consider staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Very beautiful property (well I think so). Look at some pictures & descriptions of the WDW resorts you are interested in. That might you decide. Good luck & have a great trip! |

I would choose the YC without children. As a family, we've stayed at the BCV and love it. The pool is amazing for adults as well as children. There is a lazy river area and at least one hot tub. The whole feel of the pool area is lush. It kind of winds around to different areas as opposed to being a big concrete hole. The grounds of the YC/BC are beautiful too. I love getting a gelato from the BC Marketplace and sitting out on the beach at night - the lights from the Boardwalk reflecting in the water is so pretty.
While I say I'd recommend YC, I've never actually stayed there. However, walking through its lobby, it has a more sophisticated feel than BC. BC is more laid back. It just "felt" to me like a place I'd like to stay just with my husband. As for the boat launch to Epcot, I think both resorts are equi-distant. It will depend largely upon your location within the building. BUT, I would recommend walking to Epcot. It's a very short walk and you'd probably get there sooner than the boat! The walk to DHS (then MGM!) was longer, so we took the boat there. |

I know that if my husband and I could stay just one night w/o children we would splurge on the Poly! Definitely the Polynesian!

Tell your husband the point of going to WDW without kids is to do things YOU want to do! My husband and I enjoy going alone because we can ride our favorite things together instead of having to do a "baby swap." Last time we were there, we rode Rock-N-Roller Coaster 3 times in one day, just because we could!
I would pick an Epcot-area resort and enjoy walking through World Showcase, browsing in the stores, having a nice dinner and watching Illuminations before strolling back to our resort. Pick up a pastry at Boardwalk Bakery (or the French bakery) for breakfast. Have a great time!
