Am I thinking correctly on upgrading tickets?

We'll be going in May 2010 to celebrate our 20th anniversary and our last big family vacation before daughter heads off to college the following summer. We are planning on staying 9 days. I was thinking about buying our usual park hoppers, but upgrading to the waterparks (although think we'll probably just end up going 3 times). With that being said, there will be about 6 visits left unused. Wouldn't it make more sense to upgrade the ticket again to no-expiration option and bump the days up to 10? Yes, I know it will add 100 per ticket for the no-expiration. However, for that 100 we could end up with 6 or 7 visits to the waterparks in the future and 2 or 3 park days. Since we live within a day of driving to WDW we would be able to make a long weekend/short trip run.

I'm not looking for somebody to agree, just someone to see if my thinking is sound.Well, maybe I am looking for somebody to agree..

1- Yes.

2- Yes.

Living close-by and being able to make several SHORT trips AND adding Water Parks, and/or Hopping is, by far, the best (most cost-effective) use of Non-expiring.

The current cost to upgrade a 10-day MYW ticket to non-expiring is $213 per ticket, not $100. That being said, it would still be worth it to have a ticket with 2-3 days park entrance plus some WPFM options if that would take care of your needs for a whole trip. If you needed to buy more tickets, it wouldn't make sense to make your ticket no-exp and also buy a new ticket.

We were just there on the 4/3 and I thought about getting 3 more days with non-expire option for a yet-unplanned future trip, and just the non-expire option for a ten day ticket was $200. It doesn't matter how many days you have already used on your ticket before you upgrade it, it goes by the total number of days your ticket ends up being. The cost of the extra 3 days was not much but I was shocked at the $200,it seemed to be a lot.

Yikes! I thought it was 100 each, and I don't have a clue where I got that number from other than wishful thinking. I guess it would be worth it if we could get 2 good trips out of it. Fortunately we don't have to decide that until we are there. Hopefully it will work in our favor!

As always, thanks for the information.

For cost comparison, a new two day MYW ticket is currently 158.69 with tax, and the WPFM add on is 53.25 (but you would only get two entries into the WP). The hopper add on is an additional 53.25. Total cost - 265.19, and you only have two WP admissions.

A three day MYW is 225.78, plus 106.50 for the two add-ons. Total cost is 332.28. You would get three WP entries.

Prices don't take into account any price increases that may happen between your first and second trips.
