It is Castaway Cay [pronounced KEY] and yes, it is Disney's private island. There are shops but they are run by DCL.

There are about 20-30 DCL cast members that live on Castaway Cay on a rotational basis. They are surely not there to sell you anything or offer to drive you anyplace since there's no place to go. You get on the free tram and it takes you and drops you off near the medical building/restrooms and there's another one further up the walkway that will take you to Serenity Bay the adult beach.

Castaway Cay is always our favorite stop (and I am guessing a LOT of us on the boards agree!!)
There is absolutely NOTHING to worry about, no selling, no pressure, no taxis, no worrying if you are going to "like" where you are...it just feels like your island for the day (along with the other thousands from the boat! ) but since Disney owns it as the others have posted you will get no solicitors.Your DH will have no problems with it at all! Enjoy!

Castaway Clay?
Here's an example: ![]() ![]() ![]() As others have said, no worries over being encircled by locals trying to sell anything!

My girls and I describe CC as WDW on the beach. It is clean and very Disney-esque.
As a side note, please remember that other countries/cultures have differing view of drugs, prostitution, etc. Please do not let what you vs. they consider morally appropriate ruin or taint your otherwise once-in-a-lifetime trips to place such as Western/Eastern Europe, Asia, and Latin America. |
