Rehersal at Everest
Hello everyone,
While looking into rehersal brunch/dinner ideas, my DF came across "Sunrise at the Summit" which is breakfast at Flametree BBQ in AK and then the first ride of the day on Everest. Has anyone done or looked into this? We were quoted $500 for the site fee and $900 min in food. Is it worth it or does anyone have a different idea? Thanks! |

We originally started with an Animal Kingdom rehearsal dinner with a ride on the safari and then dinner in the Tamu Tamu courtyard. In the end we decided that it had a little too much 'wow' factor. It's hard to top something like that afterwards and we didn't want our rehearsal to out shine our wedding day. Also consider if you have children or guests who can't ride they might feel excluded. I'm not sure but there is probably also a fee to ride Everest... it is probably in the $15 per person range. Most rides have a fee associated with their use.

I want to say that there was a $2,000.00 food and beverage minimum, $500 rental fee, and then approx. $13 per person for the safari. The safari was a 'mix - in' when all your guests get on the last ride of the day - not a private buy out which I think is around 6k. Since it was scheduled for Jan at the time there was also possible heater rentals and there may have been some other misc. minimums such as lighting and decor.

I did the Safari and Karibu Dinner for my wedding reception on June 23, 2009.
I got married at Shades of Green and then went to Animal Kingdom. It rained that night but we were able to ride the safari. I had about 30 guests and we were not mixed in. We had our own jeep. We entered via the Fast Pass entrance after arriving backstage near the train station. Because of the rain, the buffet was setup at Pizzafari not Tamu Tamu. Everything was wonderful. The food was great. I think that I liked Pizzafari better because we were inside and in air conditioning. Since I am not a Disney bride, I could not wear a bridal dress, veil, or carry a bouquet. I didn't mind and I had a great time! Here is a pic: ![]() Sharon SOG/Animal Kingdom Wedding - June 23, 2009

Sharon that picture looks lovely, do you know if there are a minimum number of guests required or just a minimum food and beverage?

Minimum number of guests is twenty and that is the basic template that we worked from...

That's an awesome idea! If I wasn't at my budget maximum already, I'd consider it. Instead we're doing a casual meet and greet at Ohanas for breakfast.

Safari? Mt. Everest? as possible brunch or dinner options...I've never heard of these options. Where did all of you hear about these possible choices? Is there a place where I can find out more information and see pics? Thanks!

Tickets with this package?
Do your guests have to have a park ticket to participate in this event, or is it like the dessert parties at Epcot and MGM where the guests don't have to have a park ticket? Thanks!

Guests didn't need a ticket.
There was a fee per guest for the safari. Sharon SOG/Animal Kingdom Wedding - June 23, 2009 |
