Splash Mountain Drop?

I know there's a drop at the end of Splash Mountain which I'm really worried about.. I'm TERRIFIED of heights! Does anyone know how tall the drop is and at what angle? Should I really be worried about the drop? Thanks soo much!

This is one of my favorite rides. The ride is long by Disney or other ride standards. It's so cute and the theming is fun and cute. The drop is big, but it's really not that big of a deal. Close your eyes and it will be over quickly. It's a must do and really not that bad.

Have fun Plus after the drop you still have a bit more of the ride to see

The final plunge of Splash is about a 45 degree angle. It is 52 1/2 feet long (when the attraction opened, it was the longest flume chute in the world). Guests descend at a speed of approximately 40 miles per hour, faster than the rockets at Space Mountain.

That said ... it's a few seconds of drop. But if you are truly TERRIFIED of heights, then it's not the drop that will scare you, it's the fact that from the top of it, you do in fact look out at the park. Which means you can see how high up you are. And you're probably about 60-65 feet in the air when you start to drop. If it were a dark ride where you couldn't tell how high up you were, I don't think you'd have a problem with the drop itself. But in this case, you might want to avoid it.

It was my DD3's favorite ride. She calls it the bunny ride. It is really not that big a deal. I was on it with my DS 5 and my DD3 and the first time I did have my arms around them both but it really isn't bad at all. She probably rode it about 6 or 7 times while we were there. A woman in front of us was a little nervous. Turned around and saw us and said uh - how old are your kids? I told her and told her it was DD favorite ride. She said - well I guess if she can do it, I can do it.

It's really not too bad, and it's over before you know it.

Think of it this way....if they drop was SO bad, they'd make you wear a better harness!

I am truly afraid of heights, and Splash Mountain is my favorite. I just close my eyes at the end. When I ride Soarin in Epcot, I close my eyes at the start, but I also like the ride. No way, however, could anyone pay me to ride the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios.

Trust me - you'll LOVE Splash Mountain.

You can always watch people coming down the drop from the bridge before you get in line to get a better idea of what it looks like.

One and two and three and four and five, said with my eyes squeezed shut and a death grip on the handrail...

That's how I do the Splash Mountain drop! To note, there are a couple of much smaller drops inside the attraction (Pirates of the Caribbean sized) and the ramp up to the big drop is a bit unnerving too.

Its about a 45 degree angle and it looks quite long but it lasts about 5 seconds, its nothing to worry about, just enjoy it and then close your eyes at the drop.

Brita I totally know where you are coming from! We have been to MK 4 times and it was the 4th visited that I finally had the guts to try it . I took a deep breath just before the drop and you know I actually liked it! Can't say the same about Tower of Terror All I can say is I will never do that ride again. We are going back in a month and I will be riding splash mt again.

I know how you feel!I don't like roller coasters at all. But my dh told me all about how cute/themed the ride is and being the Disney lover that I am, I knew I had to do it! I am now happy to say that after stressing about doing it It is my favorite ride! I also then got up my nerve to try Space Mtn and didn't like it at all! But, I can at least say that I have now ridden every ride in the MK!
