Ditto. Year before last, we took a picnic and stopped at a rest stop along the way. This gave the girls some time to work off a little energy running around in the grass.

Last year we went with friends and made it a two day drive (starting after work on a Friday, stayed in Georgia, arrived around noon on Saturday.) Our only stop to eat was around the hotel that night and breakfast in the hotel the next morning.

Lucky for me, DW likes to just get there as fast as possible too! Although, she does like a good Cracker Barrel Store. If it weren't for the kids and gas, we might just cross our legs and ROLL!

We learned a hard lesson one time to not have some sort of snacks stashed in a backpack or something. On the way home from Hawaii wife wanted to get a bite to eat...but....I thought we were running late and I said..lets just wait until we get to the airport...(Famous last words at our house now). Did I mention this was our honeymoon? Anyway, when we got to Kahalui airport and in our terminal...there was NOTHING to eat!! When we boareded the plain i knew we would get something to eat once in the air...well...we were delayed on the runway for 4 hours due to a mechanical malfunction and they would not let us off the plain and nothing was being served...needless to say...I have been reminded of the words...(Let's just wait until we get to the airport) many many many man many did I say many? time!

we have our snacks already in our van for oct.(the snacks that will melt are in the frig.)snacks and arizona ice tea.yup, i can go all day with out eating, i have two alarm clocks with me that tell me when its time to eat. (and some people can get alittle grumpy when they havnt eaten!)now that dd is older she sits in the back of the van w/ her i pod and tex.mess. and sleeps most of the way. the only thing you here is when are we eating?(then you hear the cooler rustling.

It is about a 13-4 hour trip for us. I love to drive, although I get to sport a cool mini-van these days. I want to paint it orange and put an 01 on the doors to make it a little more tolerable. Still, we leave in the evening and I drive all night. DW and DDs (7,5) usually sleep most of the night, except to stop and pee when the van runs out of gas. I bring snacks as well, but there is nothing like 2 AM gas station coffee and a chocolate candy bar to give you energy. The only expense I have along the way is for coffee (other than gas).

when dd was little, we would leave around 5pm, drive all night and get there in the morning. the only problem was dd was ready to go (she slept all night) and we were dragging. now we do two days on the way down and one day home. dw lost her vision in her left eye so she only drives when she has to. on the way home, she drive s.carolina and i drive all the other states. i never flew to wdw in all these years. when i was a kid 8-9 years old, the south had self service gas stations, my dad would let me hold the handle to pump gas. i thought it was the coolest thing in the world. the old 76 truck stops. i remember more of the drives down and back than i do in the parks! the drive is just fun for us.

That's impressive!

I was just reading Bill Simmons' column on his Vegas trip on ESPN.com, and he had the following line:

"As far as I can tell, Barstow, Calif., (halfway between L.A. and Vegas) was created solely to serve hungry people who need to pee and refuel as fast as humanly possible. Every fast food chain and gas station is represented; it's almost like a Food and Gas Convention. This trip, I have a hankering for Arby's [edited for family website] medium roast beef cheddar sandwich and a big thing of curly fries. Mmmmmmm. In last week's mailbag, I talked about Press Box Hot and all the different variations (somehow forgetting Prison Guard Hot and Golf Club Drink Girl Hot). Well, there's a cousin to Press Box Hot: Highway Hungry. If you're on the highway for more than two hours, seeing food signs for long enough, any food suddenly becomes six times as good. This Arby's sandwich tastes like Wolfgang Puck and Adam Perry Lang made it. We're off to a good start."

Is that true or what? The longer you drive, the more interesting those blue signs get at each exit!

Ohhh man I love getting arby's for road trips. I'll even drive with my knees just so that I can scoop out the last melted cheddar in the little cup with my last curly fry. Ohhh mouth watering good!

Hey guys just a quick post. My wife and I were in for a Level 2 Ultrasound today to check the health of the baby. Everything is looking good and they did not have any concerns. We were also able to find out the sex of the baby. We will be having another boy. Can't wait to meet him and introduce him to Disney, the Phillies, the EAGLES and fishing!!!!!!
