16th Birthday Ideas for Gift basket, cake, shirt?
I need some advice on a gift basket for my DDs 16th, we will be at The Poly and I actually celebrate my birthday on the same day, August 22nd. I want to have a basket or gift delivered for her but want to keep it a reasonable cost. I see Betsy's Baskets suggested which look more reasonable than Disney Florist.
Does anyhow have photos of what they have done for a 16th bday(girl)? Or suggestions, I want to put in some things she will use, so that really elimates lots of the typical Disney items, (no Autograph books or frilly princess pens). As well I have been looking at all the cake information and want to get one to be delivered to us at the end of the Hoop Dee Doo that we will be attending that night for our birthday dinner, does anyone know if they will do this at the dinner show and do we have to go through the baker at the Grand Floridian? we will be a group of 9 so will need a bit bigger cake. Last question, I would love to get her a customized Disney Birthday shirt with Sweet Sixteen or something similar, has anyone seen these done before by Disney or other companies that I could get ordered ahead of time?? Appreciate all you help in making this special birthday trip a memory of a lifetime!

When I ordered my DH's 25th wedding anniversary basket from Betsy last year, I emailed her and told her I was interested in a basket. She emailed me back very quickly and asked my husband's likes and then came back to me with suggested ideas that I could either agree to or disagree (I also ordered something I knew she could not get at Disney and I had it sent directly to her to include in the basket). As for the customized Disney Birthday shirt, I have ordered "family" shirts the last several trips from zazzle.com. You can pick your own character for the front and have what you want written on the back. Here's an example of the shirt I got this past year for DH's and my anniversary trip: ![]()

I was told that you cannot get a cake delivered to the Hoop de Doo. You should double check with the bakery, but I believe that is not an option.

Very cute shirts, KatMark
![]() Hi Feralpeg! I used to order your wonderful creations. I miss them! MichelleTO - sounds as though you have a VERY special trip planned. Zazzle looks awesome for tee shirts! I'd say try and work with the Disney Florist to have something created. The website does not tend to do the items justice, in my experience. If you call and talk to a CM they will work with you to create something special. The other thing I would suggest is ordering from your DD's favorite store or catalog (??) and having a gift delivered to you at the Polynesian (I have done this before from Dean & Deluca - a gourmet snack basket). Also, if you have time and specific ideas for your DD - you could create something and ship it to yourself at the Poly. I know what you mean about not wanting a bunch of junk she won't use... Good luck ![]() Re. the cake, you could always order thru Poly Private Dining and have the cake delivered to your room. |

Thank you for the great sugesstions and info. Great shirt Katmark! I may get them for the entire group!! And I will call Betsy directly to get some ideas for customization, she is a big Jonus Brothers and Twilight Fan so maybe I can get Betsy to do something around that theme. I also appreciate that info about Hoop dee doo. Thank you Dis'rs for all the input! I knew I could count on this group as I always do!
