Diamond Horseshoe-TS during free DDP!

I was playing around (again) with my online ressies and saw that Diamond Horseshoe will be open during free DDP. I went ahead and booked it and I was wondering if anyone has eaten there before, TS , all you care to eat. It sounds just like the food at LTT, which we like. No characters, but that's fine with me. Have the done this in previous years? If so I missed it.

Quote:
Please note that The Diamond Horseshoe is only open seasonally, from August 16 to October 3, 2009.

Located in Frontierland, The Diamond Horseshoe is a fun, quick-service eatery during lunch and a Casual Dining restaurant serving all-you-care-to-eat American dishes during dinner service.

At lunch, Guests can select from a menu of sandwiches (such as barbecue turkey and a meatball sub for adults; turkey or PB&J for children) and sides, including a fruit cup and potato chips.

During the all-you-care-to-eat dinner service, share mouth-watering, family-style platters of Saloon Salad (tossed mixed greens with strawberry vinaigrette dressing) and fare from the Ranchhand's Feast (roasted turkey breast, carved beef and smoked pork loin with sides of seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing and macaroni and cheese) served by a friendly staff dressed in Liberty Tree costumes. Beverages include soft drinks, coffee, iced tea and milk, with bottled water available for an additional charge.

Mosey on down for some mighty fine vittles!

they gave it cutesy Wild West themed-names, but it is EXACTLY the same food as Liberty Tree for dinner - comes straight from the Liberty Tree kitchen, too. Although there is a stage, there is no show, and servers are in colonial Liberty Tree costumes, which looks a little odd in a Wild-West Frontier saloon. If you like Liberty Tree's dinner, then you'll like this food.

They did this last year just for Free Dining -- I wandered in while they were serving one night & chatted with a server for awhile. It had never been open while we were there so I was curious...it is a very cool looking place, too bad they don't do a dinner show in there (and come up with better food than Liberty Tree dinner...that's o.k. food but nothing special.)

Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought. Basically overflow for LTT. I wonder if there's a chance they'll bring back the characters to LTT?I've heard rumors.

the rumors about return of characters to LTT have pretty much died down...was talk that they'd be back in April 2009, right in time for Easter crowds. But that never happened.

I got so excited when I saw your post, hoping that someone would tell me they've brought back the old Diamond Horseshoe Revue. We LOVED that and made it a priority every trip when I was a kid. It was so much fun.

They used to use that stage for a slightly corny, but very entertaining show with sort of vaudeville meets Old West characters and acts.

Loved it! Miss it!

Not at all helpful to the OP, but just needed to get it out of my system

1) No.
2) Nope.
3) Nada.
4) They are making more profit without characters.
5) Even on night when business is down.
6) The manpower cost for characters is huge.
7) The mapower savings more than makes up for any lost business *

* Besides, with Free Dining, people need ANYWHERE to go, so it is usually pretty busy any how. It is amazing what people will put up with for a perceived free meal.
