Not Really A Review

Back from another fabulous Disney trip! I reserve the right to change my mind and do a few reviews, but I'm not very good at doing them. I am always happy to answer specific questions, so fire away.

This trip was the love of my life and me, celebrating our 3rd anniversary, no kids. We had the DxDP, and basically did a big breakfast everyday, several signatures dinners, and snacked--and drank--through the day.

We ate at:

The Wave: breakfast, lunch & dinner. love, love, love it.
FF: Dinner. Fabulous.
Citricos: Dinner. Very Good.
Biergarten: Yuck. And not handicapped friendly, or even handicap aware. Live and learn.
CP: Breakfast. Puffed french toast--enough said!
GF Cafe: breakfast & lunch. Breakfast great, lunch not so much.
Yachtsman: Dinner. Fabulous.
Kona Cafe: Breakfast & lunch. Good.

Spent an evening in the Tambu Lounge instead of any dinner--fun. One morning breakfast was pastry from the coffee bar in the Poly lobby. I think the best cheese danish I have ever had, and I've had a lot.

Drinks too numerous to recount.

Another fabulous Disney dining experience. We really enjoyed trying the signatures.

We love the wave. We love the decor and more quiet grown-up ambiance (although it was much more crowded than last year). The service is outstanding. They knew we were celebrating our anniversary so we had complimentary glasses of a sparkling shiraz, which I highly recommend. Anyway...to your question...

For lunch we had soup of the day which was a roasted tomato with mini grilled cheese and the crab cake. Both delish! The soup was very tasty and not your run of the mill tomato soup. We compared the crab cake with all of the others we had all week and the Wave's crab cake is the best. For the entree we had the grilled chicken breast sandwich--excellent--and the classic reuben. Also excellent. One of us had the potatoes--very good, and one of us had the cole slaw, also a winner. For dessert we had the decadent and crispy selections.

Dinner first time: Crab cake and the watermelon arugula feta salad. This sounds like--what are giving me--but was hands down a tie for best appetizer of the week. For entree he had the cinnamon rubbed pork which he loved and I had the beef tenderloin. My beef was cooked perfectly but was quite salty. I did not finish it. That could just be me because i don't use a lot of salt on my food, although I do cook with it. For dessert, I had crispy and he had creamy. Crispy and decadent are my favorites so I just switched betewen them all week.

Dinner second time: Same appetizers, I had the crispy for dessert again, he had the sorbet--nothing special. For entrees, I had the cinnamon rubbed pork--excellent. He had the flank steak. He liked it, but not as much as the pork.

I hope you try this gem but do be aware, the menu is limited and not in any way traditional. Hope this helps!

It is pretty darn sad when a valet picks you out as a big Boma eater

the rectangular--as opposed to the round one--with the sugar on top. OMG. just to die for.

I want to give a shout out to a few fabulous CM/waitstaff from this trip, in particular:

Chris at FF--maybe the best service we've ever had. Outstanding.

Robin at the Wave--excellent service. Renee at the Wave, also great.

Also one morning at the Wave they only had one waiter and it was a bit crazy. The manager, Rick told us what was going on and got us coffee, which made the waiting not so bad. It was great that he let us know we would have to wait but GOT THE COFFEE GOING! Everyone was very apologetic and when a few waitpersons showed up things moved right along. We had nowhere to be in a hurry and no hungry kids so it was no problem.

GF Cafe: we had a bit of an issue with the CM/waiter not letting us use an extra meal. I asked to speak to a manager--no sense giving the waiter a hard time. The manager was Michael, very nice, we explained it was our last day, we had already paid, etc., and he said no problem. That's good management because that makes us inclined to return there.

CP: Isa was lovely--she had a glitter heart on our table for our anniversary. I'm old but I really liked it!
