Do you recommend water shoes for the water parks?

I heard somewhere that it may be a good idea to wear watershoes at the pools since the cement can be so hot and with climbing stairs, etc. What do you recc? and if you do recc water shoes, any suggestions of which ones? Thanks!

I do suggest it. The bottom of the lazy river can pool can be a little rough and the concrete is hot on the feet. I just wear the ones they sale at Wal-mart for under $10 for adults. They are light weight which is great for luggage and to wear. They also dry quickly. I also use them in the garden. Just rinse my feet and I am good to go.

I bought 4 pairs of water shoes for just that reason before our trip in June. It was jungle hot while we were there and we wore the water shoes once. They were a pain, everyone ended up taking them off and leaving in bag. They haven't been worn since.

We went to the water parks 6 times.

Its personal preference but I say...save the money and don't bother.

I would say yes to water shoes for the water park. I know for a fact that the wave pool at Typhoon lagoon is rough - I still have the burn scars on my knees from 5 years ago when a wave tried to take DD3 down and I got dragged. Plus you never know what's on the ground or how hot the ground will be - shoes are good.

We've been to the water parks probably 30-40 times and never bothered with water shoes. I think they are more of a pain than help.

The cement you walk on at the parks is white, so I've never found it to be terribly hot. And water shoes are really annoying/cumbersome to wear when swimming.

think it also depends how toughened up your feet are...if you're used to going barefoot & swim a lot year-round you'll probably be fine with no water shoes. But if you rarely go barefoot & do not spend much time in pools with concrete surfaces then I would wear water shoes - because once your feet start "softening" up in the water, they'll skin very easily. Last time we went to the water parks, we used the light weight kind - not the big clunky ones - and had no trouble swimming in the wave pool, etc.

Some of the stair surfaces are tough on the feet, but I hate water shoes. We usually just tough it out without water shoes, but we have a pool at home and are used to being bare foot...

Hi there!

I am on the Gulf Coast and LIVE at the beach or pool barefoot during the summer. We were at Blizzard Beach during the first few weeks of June and I would have paid ANY cost for some water shoes. We were running between shady spots to keep our feet from burning. My vote would be for getting some

I was also there in June and second that experience! We've previously been to the waterparks in April/May, and the ground wasn't that bad. What a difference a month makes! We luckily had Crocs which we wore from area to area and then stayed in shady/wet spots as much as possible.

We have cheap Wal-Mart watershoes and don't find them comfortable. They work for a few hours, though, if you don't have another option. If you do regular visits to Disney or swimming at home, I'd highly recommend investing in a higher quality shoe - something I'm planning on doing as soon as we have the money.

YES, WEAR WATER shoes!
They are soooo nice.
However, i dont think you can wear them going down the slides....BUT you CAN hold them while going down. Or at least i do.
They are great in the wave pool at T.L. and one will walk alot i nthe water parks too.

We found the same thing at BB. The pool bottom was so rough that my youngest son came out with his feet scraped and bleeding.

I've done the water parks both with and without water shoes. I have to admit that, as dorky-looking as they may be, they were much more comfortable than running around barefoot in the hot sand and sidewalk. We saw many people wincing as they walked across the hot ground.

So I vote YES. I recommend them.
