Would you get the DDP for Christmas week?

We've done the ddp once, and liked it other than sometimes it was hard being tied to a reservation time. We've never gone at Christmas and wondered if there would be long wait times for the table service? Would waiting in line for CS be shorter? Anybody used it during Christmas week?

I will NEVER go to Disney during Christmas week.

Ever again.

So I am afraid I cannot help.

Yes I would or pay OOP for a meal on christmas day/eve or get the DDP. The lines will be long for the CS and this way you will be garenteed a place to sit and eat.

We went over new yrs last yr and of course did not have a dining ressie and the CS lines were over an hour long. We just ened up eating food from the carts that night.

IMHO- I would not think twicabout adding it . Also make sure you make them 90+10 so your able to get a ressie and pick a place in the park you plan on being in. If you leave they can't gurentee you will be in if its in closing stages.

Thank you for the info. I could not find anyone's trip reports about wait times for food over christmas week. I think i will add the ddp.

Don't forget that if you pay OOP for meals at that time there is a holiday premium price on the TS meals but if you're on the DDP you don't pay any difference.

We've got the DDP booked for our Christmas trip. My plan is to always try to get first dinner seatings or at least very early dinner seatings with the hopes of restaurants not yet being TOO backlogged. At home we always eat early anyway (it's very rare for us to not be sitting down at the table by 4:45) so really early dinner ADRs will hopefully not be as popular. We'll also try to do our lunches by 11:00 in order to try to miss the crowds (and not be too full still to eat dinners). I really hope this works for us.

the holiday surcharge ($4) is added to buffets, not all TS bills

I would also consider the DDP during the holiday period. Buffets are pricier for cxash customers but included for the DDP. Just make sure to book your ressies in advance

Have a great time!!

The only time we have used the dining plan was during Christmas week. By the time the holiday pricing was added in, it was a better idea to get the dining plan.

By the way, we had a wonderful trip over Christmas. I would go again that time of year in a minute.

Allison, could you give me an idea of your wait times for counter service over the christmas break?
I am hoping by eating lunch at 11:30 we will cut down on the wait.

We booked a Christmas trip and are getting the QSDP. We've used the regular dining plan twice already and we hate having to be tied to a schedule for eating. Also, even with ADR's we usually ended up waiting at least 15 minutes per meal anyway for a table. This was in off season--I can't imagine how backed up table service restraunts might be on the busiest week of the year! Plus we had a hard time getting ressies during time frames/restraunts 90 days in advance for off season. Christmas ressies will be a madhouse. I don't want to deal with it.

We're opting to do QSDP to help save time. Plenty on the menu for variety too!

We didn't wait long for table or counter service that I remember. Nothing noteworthy enough that I remember it.

We booked the regular plan for 7 days. Is everyone saying that we need to get the deluxe plan since it is a madhouse with CS?

We had the DxDP for our Christmas trip (22-2). I managed to get all the ADRs we wanted with in a few hours or days of what I had originally planned...then again it was when you could still reserve 180 +10 days out. We would totally do it again, but maybe with just the DDP since the kids will be a little older. With the plan we took advantage of character meals which kept DD and DS occupied for a longer meal (aka rest for mom and dad) and we then didn't have to spend precious park time in line to meet characters.
For the most part ADRs ran on time with the exception of Sci-FI (never again for dinner) and Coral Reef. Except for 9 Dragons we didn't get in if we came early for ADRs either. We did end up canceling 2 ADRs the morning of the days planned because our plans changed.
I don't remember CS being overly crowded...just try to plan you meals on off dining hours and you should be fine. Finding a place to sit anywhere even to take a break with a snack...now that was a challenge!

No, that is not what I am saying. We did not experience long lines at counter service.
