Do we or don't we go next week?

So my DD11 is in a cast from her hip to her toes due to a broken tibia. She goes back on Thursday to the DR. and if they say we can take her to DLP we are still thinking about going however she is screaming in pain during the night. The daytime isn't too bad while she is distracted (she is excited about getting the princesses to sign her leg) but trying to sleep at night- not working so good. It's only been 2 days. I am hoping the pain will lessen as the week goes on. DH says if she doesn't stop screaming at night though no matter what the doctor says we are not going. (I don't want someone to think we are abusing her in the hotel) I booked and already paid through Expedia though and I am worried about getting the money back. I plan to call the hotel tomorrow to ask for a 1st floor room if they are available since she will have to be in a wheel chair due to the cast being entirely too heavy for crutches. Also to let them know we may not be able to come. Has anyone had a child who has broken their leg before (the bone is completly broken all the way through the tibia) and how long did it take before the pain lessened? They will only give her motrin and aceteminophin for the pain because she is a child. Anyone who has any experience with taking a child in a cast in a wheelchair to DLP that could share how it went- I would greatly appreciate it.

If she's going to be in pain at night where ever she is then if she's in Disneyland Paris then at least her days will be filled fun. Having her cast signed would be superb, what a great souvenir. Imagine the fuss the characters and CMs will make of her - may as well expolit that silver lining

Contact the hotel and I am sure they will give you a more accesible room plus they may give you a room away from too many people.

I agree with Steve, she may forget about the pain once she's there and distracted. I really feel for her and you, not great thing to happen.

I hope she's in less pain, or even better, no pain by the time you need to go so you can all enjoy your trip.

She was riding DS9's scooter and it went out from under her and her legs went up then came down on the pavement in front of the house. Imagine in the cartoons when someone would slip ona banana peel and fly up into the air before they fell.

If I were you I'd weigh up the pro's and cons...for example, how will the journey be in the car with the cast on? How will she feel if she can't actually go on any of the rides? What impact will it have on the rest of your party's holiday?
I only ask about the impact on everyone else's holiday because twice when we've been away my poor hubby has been ill on arrival and the first few days of our holiday was pretty tense and stressful......a day into our Florida holiday over Christmas and New Year he got really sick (I swear he had Swine Flu, no kidding at all!). Fever, aches, terrible headaches, he was literally bedridden and me and ds didnt feel we could leave him at all so we all had a miserable start to our much awaited holiday!
If she is adamant that she wants to go, and the above things won't be a factor, then I say go for it, but if you can possibly cancel and claim on your holiday insurance, then rebook for a time when she is better, it might be an idea too?

Your poor DD, that looks really painful.

I don't think i would go either esp if they are still in a lot of pain. When my DD got ill at DLRP all she wanted to do was sleep, having fun was the last thing on her mind.

Tough one, I would probably see if you can move the holiday back. I can't see your DD enjoying the trip fully the way she is.

However if you can't then go & make the best of it

I think your in a real predicament here, it's tough because you won't know until you get there if it will be enjoyable or not for her. Not too sure what I would do but sending her big hugs

Oh the poor thing. I think i would have to cancel imagine if it is as hot as it has been, very uncomfortable in a cast. Different if it were her arm though.

We told her she may not be able to do BTM but she could probably manage other rides. She actully wants to sleep in the car- it's comfortable for her As far as affecting the rest of the family- her brothers are actually ok with whatever we decide to do. They have all seen the picture of her leg (she doesn't want to see it yet) and are being really suportive of her. We have been so many times we can take breaks over the 5 days we would be there. So we'll just see how the week plays out. The toughest thing on her is that she can't go swimming or to horseback riding lessons right now. I just pray tht the DR is right and she'll only need the full cast for 4 weeks....

That picture is eeeek - I can well imagine that she'd be screaming in pain right now. I hope the pain eases for her very soon, and the doctor has encouraging news for her on her next visit.
