Fastpass return time

After our last trip, I was amazed to find out that you don't really have to use your Fastpass in the time stated on the ticket. In all my trips to WDW, I never knew that you could use your Fastpass even after it had "expired" on the same day. Is this still the case or are they stricter when it's busy?

Nope - good all day. There have been countless threads about this. A couple people have been denied here and there, but basically the Fastpass is good any time after the return time. There are a couple of shows such as HISTA that do require an accurate return time.

It's true. I first read about this in the Unofficial Guide in 2001 and it not changed since. It sure makes planning easier when you don't have to rush across the parks to meet the deadlines.

We had a 10:15-11:15 return time for Peter Pan. We were travelling with a special needs child and something came up and we missed the return window, but we decided to give it a try anyway at 1:30. The Cm didn't say anything and I didnt have to explain anything and let us right in.

Yup, as long as it's after your return time not before, then you're good.
I've heard of some people getting denied, but I think it's if it's a relatively new ride and the standby line is ridiculous. TSM might be one of those cases.
I've never had a problem though.

It makes it soo much nicer to not have to worry about rushing back for your time, and risk getting there early to be one of those people who stands there waiting for the CM to let them through.

Last week, at Buzz Lightyear, the CM's were weeding out FP's by taking "only people with passes before xx:xx, please!" Others had to wait.

I actually wondered if the machine was having problems, because the lines at Buzz were never really that long - stand-by or FP.

I've come across this quite often, because people with fastpasses a few minutes away (maybe even longer) tend to just lurk around the CM that is checking the FPs, until they let them through.
I actually had a FP for Soarin' once that was well within the time, and a group of people got mad at me, because I pushed up to the CM to have them check my FP. They had been standing there and the CM wouldn't let them through, because their FP time wasn't up yet. They acted like I was cutting.
