Question Skipping Downtown Disney?

Planning a trip in February just for my DH and I. Since Pleasure Island closed, is it worth going to Downtown Disney one night? I believe that we'll be staying at the BWI and we'll be doing the Deluxe DP. Restaraunts at DD are not very well reviewed. What is there left to do at night at DD anymore?

There is plenty of shopping. If your looking for anything Disney World related, Downtown Disney is the place to go

Definately skip it for the dining options, they are really lacking downtown. You are much better off at the resorts. The exception may be Reglan Road, I have read great things online about it but havnt personally been. They also have live entertainment most nights. DD has some great shopping and the open lakeside atmosphere is great, I personally love it and have to visit the World of Disney every trip. Even if I'm not planning a large purchase its great just looking around at all the stuff. The lego store and sculptures are worth a look and the new balloon ride is open, too.

I think it depends on how long your trip is. I mean if you are going for 3 nights, then yes- skip DTD and go to the parks. If you are going for a week, then why not go there one night- even after dinner if you don't want to eat there. It's nice just to walk around, look in the shops-- you can get a snack at Goofy's with a snack credit.

LOVE Raglan Road! We make it a point to go to DTD just to have a couple of drinks in the bar, listen to the live music and have Bread and Butter Pudding (THE BEST dessert on the planet!)

There's also a brand new restaurant with outdoor seating along the water and a tequila bar. Haven't heard much about it yet, but looking forward to trying it out this fall. More info HERE

Every year I've ever been down there with my family we've gone to DD, and when I go with my friend this year we're gonna make a trip. Even if you just go lookin at stuff it's worth it!

Disney Marketplace and Westside have lots to occupy you for an evening. We never miss it as we like a quiet evening to shop, enjoy a coffee by the water, and have an ice cream at Ghiradelli.

If you are primarily interested in Pleasure Island partying type nightlife, I'd skip it and stay at the Boardwalk. There's a few hopping clubs there.

DTD is a great place to spend a few hours people watching and browsing the shops. It's a nice change of pace from the parks too.

We skipped it on our 2 last trip. We usually like to go for shopping and ice cream at Ghiradeli.

we have skipped it for the past two years. since recent criminal activities after dark i don't have a good time when my guard is always up.

probably I'm being overly cautious but it just doesn't seem worth the risk for what's available there

I personally would not skip DD. First there is one of my favorite restaurants that had some of the best food of our trip, Raglan Road. Then is the World of Disney store which is fun to walk around. We walked into the T-rex an looked around since that was new. Our family enjoyed just walking around DD.

Raglan Road is good. I also like the Marketplace side, because I love the Disney shopping!

I would recommend going to Downtown Disney Marketplace for all their great stores and one location they have on the Disney Dining Plan is Earl of Sandwich, which is one of the best places to eat at in all of WDW.

Just curious, what kind of criminal activities have been happening after dark recently?
