Upgrading Ticket to AP Question

First let me say, I did check out the FAQ thread, but I wanted to make sure I understand all this correctly.

We have a 1 day ticket from our last trip that we were required to buy to get the dining plan, but did not use/activate. If I want to upgrade this to an AP, I can just pay the difference of the AP cost and the cost we paid for the ticket? Is that right?

And from what I read, you can't do this at a resort, just the parks and DTD? Any other more convenient locations maybe?

And one more question...I understand that you can book AP rates with the "intent" to buy an AP, but you have to have it upon check in. So I assume I would have to go do the upgrade first and then check in, right?

Thanks for the help!!

1- Yes. If there has been an interim price increase, you should USE the ticket to go into
a theme park, THEN upgrade it. It can then be made "worth" the current gate price.
2- Right.
3- The TTC ticket booths at the MK parking lot is another choice.
4- Yes.
5- Nope.
6- If asked for the AP, you can just go GET the AP later that day,
and bring it by the check-in desk the next day,
and all will be right with the world.

Robo,
You seem to know alot about disney and are my go-to person when I have a question. Do you think you know the answer to this?

1) Would I be able to buy a 1 day ticket with my birhday fun card? I have annual passes and insted received the birthday fun card. We are going in a few weeks with mom, she doesnt have annual passes, so I was wondering if I can use the fun card to buy her a one day pass.

I have seen no printed restrictions on buying tickets with the card.

After all, a ticket IS one of the "choices."

I'd think Disney would be very happy if you "gave them their money back" and all they had to do is let your mom into the park.

BTW, I'm not too sure if you couldn't just "hand her" your free Birthday Ticket and she could use it.

I think the Fun Card is limited to merchandise purchases from Disney owned and operated stores. It specifically states that it cannot be used for dining (including snacks), for payment of a Resort bill, or at stores that are not Disney owned and operated.
