How many days...
How many days is too long to stay at Disneyland? We are going to fly from Alaska so I want to make it worth it but also not a magical burn out either. LOL

I'm going to buy the 5 day pass but think I'll add some days to it. I'm thinking of 7 days at the parks.

Seven days is way too long. It's not like WDW, you can't fill an entire week. I always feel like I'm starting to get bored after three days, but I like to get a four day ticket so I can hit EE and ride some favorites on the morning of checkout.

I'm not sure I could have "too long"--I've certainly not been bored, no matter how many days I do!
Some of it depends on crowds. If crowds are low, you can get everything done more quickly, though you may enjoy the atmosphere more too! If crowds are very high or the weather is very hot, mid-afternoon breaks could be essential, in which case more days is good because you won't feel so pressured to get everything done in a short period. I think 5 full days would be ideal for me (though if you're flying and you got a 7-day ticket with reasonably-priced days 6 and 7, you could perhaps also do 5 full days, and visit on arrival and departure days). Most commonly (pre-Cars Land) we've had 5-day tickets and gone in for a few hours the evening we arrive and a few hours the morning of departure day. The other lengths I've done, due to Halloween parties, are 1.5 days (way too short) and 2.5 days (good but still too short). Have a great trip! |

Bored? We never get bored. I can never get everything done that I want with a 6 day and now for December we have to cut back to 5. That is going to be hard.

This question can not be answered for you - it is a completely personal thing - we went last year with a 6 day PH and I wish we had more time - this year we are getting an AP because the 5 PH is a joke in our opinion - but we are staying for 11 nights - so we are not going to do DLR every day, all day either, we will do a morning and then something else after lunch or an evening to watch the shows on a day that was otherwise busier - every single person is different in how they do the parks and for how long - to say 7 days is too long means it's too long for that person - you will never know, until you visit.

5 days is perfect. Some need longer and some need shorter but 5 gives us enough time to do it all at a semi-relaxed pace.

Some folks on this forum could go for weeks. Not us. We go enough that we do not need to do everything. I think four days is right for me. My college and high school age kids would say 2-3 days.
For someone on a first trip or someone who just does not got that often, I would say five days is right.

We just came back after 10 days in the parks. IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! We got to do everything and we were never bored. When I left I felt very happy and fullfilled....and that I had seen and done everything I wanted to do. I could NEVER get bored at DL.
We did spend an 11th day in a cabana at the GCH and that was a wonderful, relaxing luxury that I would do again in a heartbeat. We did have a rental car but we weren't really motivated to go anywhere(other than the grocery store)as we always found that there were things we wanted to do in the parks that day. I guess a lot of the decision is based on the amount of money it costs to get to DL. An outstanding seat sale for us is $1500 so I want to squeeze every moment out of the cost of airfare.

It can partly depend on your energy level and stamina. We used to go for three days and were there from rope drop to park closing, going commando style to get as much in as possible, and were completely exhausted at the end. We've gradually increased the time to where on our last visit we were there for eight days (we got annual passes and are going again within the year), and we like this much better. We now take time to notice details and little extras like hearing the dentist and piano lessons from the second story windows in the side street on Main Street, enjoy street shows like the Dapper Dans, eat at more table service restaurants, and generally take things at a slower pace, and are also able to go on rides we really like multiple times. By the end of our trip, we feel refreshed and energized from a wonderful vacation instead of exhausted and worn out. We also fly, and figure we are getting more value out of our airfare when we stay longer.

Another consideration besides crowds... how many are in your party? When we can, we like to take a week and tack both weekends on each end, so it's a total of 9 days (though two of those days are interrupted by driving time). And we're still sad to go! With four kids, it's a slower pace. If it was just me and my husband, I think we'd be fine with less days. But really... it is a very personal thing!
