POR to DTD: Water Taxi or Drive?

It sounds like the water taxi ride from POR to DTD is relaxing and fun, but I'm wondering, if we're in a hurry would it be quicker to just drive? Water taxi ride is 20 minutes (am I correct?) plus a 10-20 minute wait at the dock (again, is this correct?). Driving would take about --I'm guessing--10-15 minutes?? Thanks!

Yes, it is true that driving would be faster, however you would have to deal with parking, so it may take longer. I'd take the boat myself.

Driving is probably quicker but we loved taking the water taxi, very relaxing after a long day at the parks. One of the reasons we decided to return to POR again was the option of taking the water taxi to DTD.

Take the boat unless you are really pressed for time.

I would take the boat also. It may be a bit quicker to drive but you have to walk to your car drive to DD (don't forget all the traffic lights) find a parking space and then walk in. I have driven, when I knew I would be buying a bunch of stuff -was leaving the next day so couldn't have it sent to the hotel. All in all the boat ride is a big part of why we stay at POR -you do have to factor in that sometimes you need to wait for the boat too.

Another vote for the boat. IMHO, it's one of the best perks about staying at POR.

I would say make sure to take the boat at least once - it is fun and relaxing and you get to see the tree houses and some other resorts on the way.

However, we just left POR and we waited in line 45 minutes to catch the boat and 30 minutes in line for the return trip in the Florida heat which was not relaxing at all. There is a sign that says the ferry runs every half hour during the day and every 15 minutes after 4pm, which we found to be correct. (We were catching the boat in the evening for dinner.)

We were glad we rode the boat and would again, but only did it once!
