No these were from the Huron, Ohio display. I have only seen the Delco fireworks once, but remember they were very well done.

Picture taken last weekend. Our family tradition is to celebrate the 4th on the island. Sadly, a tragedy struck. Our thoughts go out to the community, volunteers, and families.

I'm amazed they even sell it anymore---I can't imagine that many people drink it regularly and I don't think our one time each year is enough to keep Yoohoo in business, but who knows!! The weird part is, I don't know if there is actually any "milk" in the Yoohoo chocolate milk...reading the ingredients reminded me why it's not something I keep the fridge stocked with

I think YooHoo is labeled as a "Chocolate drink". I love it every so often. I used to get it as a kid a lot. YUMMY!!!

Oh yeah, pictures. Here are a few I took over the weekend. If the EXIF looks a little "weird", I was using my P&S.

ISO 100 f/10, 1/160

ISO 125 f/9 1/320

The fire works I shot in manual. These are the only 2 that came out half way decent. The rest were pretty blurry. We were sitting too close to where they were shooting them off. It was my first attempt at shooting fireworks with half a clue as to what I was doing.

ISO 200 f/8 2s

ISO 200 f/8 3s

Our local beach does fireworks every Thursday, so when I get my DSLR I hoping to get some practice so I'll be more prepared for our next Disney trio.

Thanks a lot, Roger. You are absolutely correct. It's been a little while since I've shot any fireworks and I'm looking forward to capturing the new show at DL next weekend, although I will miss the old RDCT.

I've gone back and added some settings to each shot. I used the D300 along with cable remote release and my trusty Siggy 18-50mm f/2.8. Using full manual, most of the shots were along the lines of 3-5 seconds at f/11. However, once I go the feel of how they were firing the shells, I shot a few much longer. You'll see one of them is a 15.3 second exposure to capture a few different shells in the same frame. I thought about using a black card/cloth to cover the lens in between but it really wasn't necessary. And, we were situated in a perfect spot, roughly 100 yards from the launch site.

I took these on Memorial day at a local church grave yard that has graves dating back to the early/mid 1800's. One of the things that caught my eye was how many tomb stones list military service. Reading the stones can prompt quite a few questions. I don't think I took a photo of one particular stone but I will on my next visit. The grave was a man who was an officer in a unit from a northern state of the Union army. He is now buried in a small southern town that was at the time in the middle of no where. How and why did he end up in this town? I would love to know the story.

Here a grave that has another story.

Lots of vets are in this church yard. The church has to be getting close to 200 years old. And the yard is small. There were quite a few flags on the graves on Memorial Day. I went early in the morning right after sun rise. It was very quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful. Fitting.

Later,
Dan

70's to 1997 too many trips to count.

Disney is a lens that focuses on people.
Sometimes it exposes the worst.
Most of the time it highlights the best.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to make a kind of last minute 5 day trip to Sanibel last week.

Sunset taken at J.N. Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge last week on Sanibel Island Florida:

Not a patriotic shot but it says summer to me.
