End of Sept Stay - Starting to Freak

We almost always go the end of Sept/early Oct. Planned our first time on property as DVC members at the BLT for Sept 26 - Oct 3 with the dining plan. Then found out that our neighbors will be there at the same time. Weird coincidence huh? Then I find out that someone I work with is also going the same week Ė really, super weird huh? I mean the place is usually pretty calm when I go. Then I do some digging and find out that because of the F&W and the free dining that all of the value and most of the moderate resorts are filled!! Ahhh.
We are so used to no crowds and getting ADRs by stopping by a few days before.

Itís too late to change all our plans so I guess Iím going to brave the crowds (maybe it will give me good training for when we go at Christmas in a few years or if we ever try July/August). I think Iím going to drop the dining plan (itís not free for me) and probably go to the parks that donít have the extra magic hours (believing that all the people are staying on property and theyíll be hitting the EMH). Anyone else using this strategy? Also believe I may be spending some time at the pool(s) Ė if we pool hop where should we go to have the most fun?

I think your plan will still be fine. I'd definitely make ADRs though for ANYTHING you want that's a table service, even if you're not getting the dining plan. And I'd take advantage of the F&W booths - we loved eating around the world last year.

well we are going the exact same week as you too.
i kinda did the same thing considering my children are small and i don't see the need for the extra magic hours with kids that can't make it past 8pm.

Where did you find that most of the values/mods are filled? I know availability with the free dining discount is gettin pretty slim, but I was able to find availability for the room only fall discount at CSR, CBR and POFQ when I was pricing which discount would be better for our second room.

We're going that same week, and I'm not concerned. I expect it will be about the same as past years, or maybe a bit lighter. Crowded restaurants, uncrowded parks - the usual for the free dining period - with high weekend crowds at Epcot for Food & Wine.

With Disney's Free Dining, 4/3 deal, huge discounts on Value/Moderate/Deluxe resorts, they're keeping their occupancy up but the rest of Orlando is seeing a huge drop in occupancy rates. I wouldn't worry about crowds so much in late September.

Disneyworld? Not so much anymore. FP- has ruined the experience for locals

You will be fine...During free dining every year it books the values and mods up..so does food and wine. It is still relatively a great time to go

I'll be there the same time as you. I think the crowds will be manageable and definitely not like Christmas. The restaurants will be packed so hopefully you made your ADRs today.

Two things on our side (same week as you) the free dining offer was just extended till July 26th. The year or two it was extended, I thought WDW was the least crowded I ever seen. The UG crowd calendar went down from 6's to 4's tht mid week. Just remember EPCOT will be crowded that first weekend due to locals, and the rest of the week will just like you and I remember in years past.

I started to have this same freak out the other night, so went to the WDW website and looked to see how "room only" availability looked. The values seemed fairly booked during our dates (Sept 19-25) but beyond that the moderates and deluxes were still pretty available. So as someone else mentioned, it seems that the rooms for the promotions are being taken quickly but remember those are only a portion of the total rooms available.

*At least this is what, I'm telling myself

Oh, you all just trying to be nice. The reality is it will be hot and a lot of people will be ay Disney. I think you should change your vacation from September to say..... any other month. Yep, everyone who is going in September should change your month.

Now what ever you do don't go 9/20 - 9/25. I checked and have been forwarned that it will be hot and populated with people. My inside sourse is never wrong and he said expect to see people and expect to see the sun. He has never been wrong. Also there is a 100% chance to see a weather forcast showing sun, rain, clouds, and lighting.

So if you don't like people, sun, clouds, rain, lighting, and mice.... change your vacation. Go to Pigon Forge or Sea World or Universal or the beach... why not just take a cruise. But don't go to Disney during the 9/20 - 9/25.
